I have recently read that Sally Wainwright has been working on the third and final series.

I believe filming started in January and has still has some of the characters in from last series. Tommy lee, Anne, it did read that the story line would mostly likely be focussing on the young boy Ryan. Although of course they may portray him as an older boy In the next series, it didn't say.

Not sure when the series will be aired but I'm sure we will get to hear.

I didn't fancy this at first but eventually gave it a go and was glued to my set throughout! I don't normally like such dark storylines but something about this drew me in. It was so grittily horrible but such compulsive viewing. I would definitely watch the next series. And who would have guessed that the lovely James Norton could be so repulsive and creepy?

I found that there was enough misery in the world without watching this so I stopped after about 3 episodes of series 1.

I like Sarah Lancashire, but not enough to watch it I’m afraid.

Here's some cast details but don't read further down unless you want spoilers:

Just wondering how Catherine Cawood will handle all the violent physical confrontations with drug dealers etc. now she's six years older! Maybe time to do the office work ?

Very good news. Looking forward to it with such an excellent cast.

Sally wainwright always said she was waiting for the young boy who played Ryan to be old enough ( in his head) to play the part a 3rd time ....with the story line she had in mind....and he will be around 15 now I guess?

Let’s hope it is still as good. Last Tango In Halifax was great originally, but went off terribly in the last series.

Would have been better to sign off on a high, but so often they don’t know when to call it a day.

Better to leave on a high.

I tend not to watch violent stuff but confess to having an extreme weakness for anything that Sally Wainwright produces. She has genuis touch for me. Remember the last series with gusto and intrigue and certainly look forward to this forthcoming one. Hope SL makes it to retirement. She certainly is a deserving case and earns her crust. Fiction of course!

Didn’t watch it at the time, but when I realised Sally Wainwright had written it, I binge watched last winter.

Very gritty and realistic.
Just like round here!

It was a great series. Sarah Lancashire is a fantastic actress. Looking forward to this.

It must be imminent because I saw a promotion for it the other day. Calendargirl I agree about Last Tango In Halifax, the last series wasn’t to the same standard as the previous series.

It’s been wonderful. Much of the filming has been in my small town and it’s great fun to chat to Sarah Lancashire whilst standing in the market. Though the crew do take over the mini market shop and areas of the town for days on end and the car park is filled with film related vehicles.
Likewise Last Tango, I have admired Derek Jacobi since I Claudius when I was a child. Cozy pub scenes were all filmed in my local and it’s been great seeing them wandering around enjoying our pretty town.
Gentleman Jack is also filmed in this area and has been great fun to watch the filming. Though in all of these series I do get a bit disorientated when you go off down one road and turn a corner to a completely different part of town. But it hasn’t spoiled the enjoyment of all of these series.

Goodness Miss chat where you live sounds exciting, must be interesting to watch all the filming.

My degree from years ago was in film production and photography so it’s interesting to watch the filming and lighting.
My town is a small Pennines town in a steep valley. It’s quite touristy which is a shame as most of the shops are becoming frothy coffee shops. But the town punches well above its weight with 2 butchers, 3 artisan bakeries, a market 4 times a week cinema, theatre, music venue, restaurants and much more. The walking and hiking is special and it’s only 40 mins to Leeds. All this with a population of about 4000. It’s a special place.

I loved both of those tv series and if they are coming back even if briefly I will be delighted.

I'm looking forward to it as well, just hope it's as good as previous series
