I have to say I am new to this as I have only just started watching it but it is one of the only TV programmes where I actually laugh out loud. In these troubling times it’s so good not to watch the news but to switch on Gogglebox, so entertaining, wish I’d found it before but I am doing catch up on E4 so I’ve got about 20 stored ?

Jenny and Lee are my favourites I just wish they were real life partners as they seem so suited I believe her husband is somewhere in the background

Lee is gay and has had the same partner for 25 years... wink

I have watched it from day one. It is always good for a laugh but it seems that the programmes they watch and discuss have really gone down market in recent series. As mentioned above, some participants are a bit thick so they may have to accommodate them. Many of the programmes now I have never seen, not being interested in people displaying parts of their anatomy best kept hidden from TV cameras!

I agree some of the programmes they have to watch now are pretty dire. We viewed from the first series and have always enjoyed it although it does seem to have become more scripted & staged. I wonder if the Malones ever actually eat any of those massive cakes that are always on their coffee table. Love the Siddiquis, they always seem very relaxed and natural.

Just found this picture of Giles and Mary when they were younger, what a gorgeous couple..?

We love Gogglebox! Our resident son introduced us to it a few years ago. I feel it saves me watching a lot of other programmes, it's a good resumé of the week's viewing.
It's a bit Marmite though, my brother-in-law can't stand it ?

Kate1949 Sun 13-Mar-22 23:37:51

Yes Shinamae that's the picture I saw.

i avoided it initially, as i assumed it was something to do with computers.
i'm a bit dim.

Also one of my favorites that can make me laugh out loud and occasionally weep. It also saves me from watching some dire programmes but still know what they are about.

I love Googlebox too, Jenny an Lee are my favourites, Giles and Mary, Dave and Shirley all of them really but I’m not that keen on the couple with the two boys or the two girls with all the dogs.
Shirley is the manager of a local charity shop not far from where I live.

I like it but I agree, it does seem more scripted now and almost like an advertisement at times. I wish they wouldn't put naked attraction on it (GOD I sound a prude) I have no desire to see anyone naked on a Friday night grin

I love the Siddiqui's too. They seem such pleasant, gentle men

The last three nights I have binge watched Gogglebox and I have to say it has really really cheered me up and I don’t really care if it’s scripted I just find it so funny and in these awful times it’s great to be able to laugh out loud at something….?

I binge watch too Shinamae. Thank you for that photo of Giles and Mary. They are amongst my favourites along with the Siddiqui family, Amani and Amira, Jenny and Lee and many others.

Must watch a couple of episodes tonight to give me an emotional boost.

I have recorded a lot of Gogglebox some of it is going back to 2019 and there was something I watched last night about the elephants and the mother rescuing the baby elephant stuck in the mud and then the head matriarch elephant died, my God I was in bits…. A lot of laughter but some poignancy as well as demonstrated with the elephants….? The thing that put me off watching it for years was the actual title ?

I’ve only been watching it for about 3 years now. I started mainly as it’s on on Friday nights when I’m home alone with control of the tv remote. I found there wasn’t a lot else on so gave it a try. I love the Saddoqui family best. I really miss Mary and Marina. Lovely ladies always full of fun.
Incidentally I was reading a magazine at the hairdressers today. It had an interview in it with Joan Collins saying how she was a fan and would love to be on the celebrity version. Now that would be interesting!

Yes I really liked Mary and Marina it was such a shame that Mary passed away…

Used to watch it but now there is too much swearing and vulgarity don't watch anymore

Aveline Fri 18-Mar-22 13:12:54

The language used on Gogglebox is pretty everyday stuff -unless you're from Cranford of course!

Shinamae Fri 18-Mar-22 17:15:06

I just love it, my absolute favourite programme swearing and all…?

Anyone watching this last night?

Everyone is entitled to their own views of course, but Mary thinks Boris has been ambushed and Giles doesn't think it's a resigning matter. Obviously they know better than the police and all the other politicians.

A lot of people think this way.
I know quite a few who do, one is a GP practice Manager who always refers to poor Boris.

Can be very funny but wish they didn’t swear so much! Surely not normal in most families?

Jaxjacky Sat 16-Apr-22 09:44:01

We’ve yet to watch last night’s, I’m sure it’ll raise a laugh or two.

Jane43 Sat 16-Apr-22 18:08:29

The Siddiqui family are very witty and entertaining yet they very rarely use bad language and the disabled man and his sister are also very witty with very little bad language, if any. It is also one of my favourite programmes, I do miss June and Leon and Mary and Marina.
