Thanks FannyCornforth. I’ll be watching that. He was on Question Time a while ago and said he would be appearing again but I haven’t seen him since.

Jane Andrew Neil is going to present a Sunday night show on Ch 4.
I think that he’s brilliant ; and I’m
glad to see him bounce back after his awful experience with GBNews ( or GeeBeebies as James OBrien calls it).
The experience nearly gave Neil a nervous breakdown.
I’d love to hear him on LBC, minus the callers.

Thanks for the information. I read that she would be returning to News Night eventually but it seems not. Several of the BBC programmes I used to watch regularly have lost their original presenters and are not the same: News Night, Question Time and The Andrew Marr show. I also miss Andrew Neil’s show as well, he is not a likeable presenter but he is very well informed and gives proper interviews rather than lightweight chats.

I agree Welbeck
I used to love LBC in the ‘old days’, about 15 - 20 years ago.
When Iain Lee was on. And Cristo, Jenny Eclair and other ‘characters’.
It’s the same stuff all day now.
It obviously gets the listeners, but it’s lost its charm.

i don't like Andrew Marr being on LBC.
it's becoming too political, always arguing.
i prefer Eddie Mair, with his wry, gently clever, humour.
now his programme has been cut down to make way for Marr.

Andrew Marr presents just four one hour shows per week on LBC.

I don’t expect Maitlis and Sopel to have much of a radio presence either; it’s all about the podcasts it seems

That sounds like the report I read.

The Guardian reported on 22 Feb:

The BBC is losing two of its leading broadcasters as the Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis and the former North America editor Jon Sopel have announced they are leaving to join the media group Global.

The pair will front a new podcast for Global Player, host a radio show together on LBC and provide commentary and analysis for the station’s website.

...

Andrew Marr, on his departure to LBC, said he was “keen to get my own voice back” and was looking forward to having greater freedom to express himself outside the BBC’s strict impartiality rules.

I read that she has been poached. I can't remember where she has gone (Sky?) but it pays better and has fewer constraints, I think.

I was wondering why Emily Maitlis has disappeared from News Night. It seems she is working on a 10 part documentary on American politics which should be interesting.
