Just started watching this, and ended up binge watching it over two nights. Joe Cole, ex Peaky Blinders, is a great Harry Palmer, wears the glasses and raincoat that we all associate with Michael Caine in the film. Tom Hollander is excellent too, and Lucy Boynton who plays Jean wears such beautiful, iconic 1960s clothes.

Not a patch on the original film as neither of the two leads look old enough, they look as if they have just left school. Tom Hollander doing his usual scene stealing.

Watched the first episode……then gave up.

I enjoyed it. It is a long time since I saw the film so didn't compare.

same here, so I cam to this with fresh eyes. I thought Joe Cole was good with his deadpan answers, especially when there was any suggestion of him being less educated than others; he is quick enough to show, politely, that he is as smart, if not more, than all the usual upper class public school educated men.

I'm enjoying it, I've never seen the original and don't like Michael Caine.

Loved it. Beautifully filmed, great cast and careful attention to detail.

I will give this a go. I am another one not keen on Michael Caine and didn't see the film.

I am in awe of Lucy Boynton's hair in this series - the updos she wears are amazing! Very 60s and very impressive.

I’m loving this. Haven’t seen the film or read the book. Love the mid century fashions and detail .

I’m enjoying it, good cast, great scenery, dialogue good. As for Joe Cole and Lucy Boynton, excellent both of them . His specs and raincoat, dead pan delivery and her hair, clothes and something of the Avenger women’s style when using a gun.

He looks about 12, we've decided we can't watch anymore.

LadyGracie, everybody looks about 12 when we reach older age. I have to have a word with myself when our 12 year old vet gives me advice about my dogs. She’s trained for several years, is clearly bright and a committed professional.

DH couldn't wait so we watched it this week "live" rather than recording it for later as we usually do. The ad breaks do rather ruin it!

Film makers never quite get the 60s style right but the way they have dressed Lucy B is really good. I am amazed how she wears her hair for dangerous sorties. She does have a 60s woman look about her, without the usual stereotypes.

Enjoying this, but still think Harry looks too young. That psychiatrist woman he was with just looked too old for him, and a bit frumpy compared to Jean, who looks gorgeous in anything, with a cut glass accent to match.

As for Tom Hollander- look no further for the next James Bond! The way he pulled the gun out of his hat and shot about four baddies one after the other, looking as cool as a baby cucumber.

What a man!
