New thread required, old one full.

Yes, Eileen has always been one of my favourite characters. I hope she gets a (non-traumatic) storyline soon. I'm pleased she has George, but she seems to be a bit-player in his stories now - the snoring, the sister etc.

The way they seem to be operating just now (one or two stories running with just a few characters) it will probably be her turn soon. I really hope they get back to the more traditional soap format with several interwoven plots at once. It's far more satisfying for the viewer (and hides a multitude of bad acting sins!).

We actually caught sight of two of the quads on Friday as well.
I like George's sister even if she is a larger than life character, Eileen still seems to be fading into the background and not at all the feisty person she was.

BlueBelle

Aadi and Kelly are so sweet together
I m not keen on any of the new ones in it, not Dylan not Aaron not dentist not jenny s true love nor George’s sister perhaps they ll grow on me

Oh George’s sister is awful….Jayne Macdonald x 100…..

Calendargirl Sun 28-Aug-22 07:33:36

We’ll all be moving on to the street and booking in with the dentist!

Wonder where he’ll have his practice? Probably there is a spare consulting room at the Medical Centre, which he can occupy, as good old Doctor Gaddas seems to manage the whole thing single handed, dispensing not just medication, but a good listening ear, empathy, compassion, counselling…..

The Weatherfield Medical Centre should be reviewed by government, and the whole country should be modelled on that particular place, where no one has to wait weeks for an appointment, can just dash in off the street to be seen in an emergency, and home visits are still carried out.

Grannynannywanny Sat 27-Aug-22 22:05:15

I just can’t take to Kelly since her involvement in the gang of thugs who murdered Seb. They’ve tried to make out she’s a reformed character but I’m not feeling it. I’m concerned for the lovely Aadi and I think she’ll break his heart.

That's true. If he sets up a practice on the cobbles it will be an NHS one (which barely exist now) and people will be able to get appointments by walking in off the street to find him not busy and able to help immediately.

Aveline Sat 27-Aug-22 16:40:28

But at least there's now a dentist to add to the only doctor, nurse, policeman and lawyer on the street! Is there an accountant? Look out soon...

Doodledog Sat 27-Aug-22 15:38:40

I agree with all your points, Calendargirl.

I don't know what it is about Summer's boyfriend. He's a nice looking boy, but he just seems dodgy. I'm not convinced that his father is abusing him either. And yes, all this young love is sweet and natural, but we don't need to know the finer details.

Dylan is ok, I think - they are obviously introducing new generations for upcoming storylines - but yes, the dentist doesn't ring true.

Calendargirl Sat 27-Aug-22 07:08:32

Assuming Kelly had never been behind the wheel of a car before, let alone had a driving lesson, it was amazing that she negotiated her way to this ‘happy place’, through Weatherfield’s traffic, before finally crashing.

Most of us in that situation would not have made it to the end of the street.

Cannot take to Summer’s new boyfriend somehow. The whole loss of virginity stuff is excruciating to watch, just do the deed out of sight, like Aadi and Kelly.

Hope Sean’s son doesn’t stay, not keen on him either. The whole storyline with the new dentist boyfriend seems very contrived.

It crossed my mind a few weeks back that possibly Stu’s daughter killed her and he took the blame to protect her. If he moved the body her DNA would be found on his clothing.

I’ve got too much time on my hands ?

Doodledog Fri 26-Aug-22 11:19:15

Good shout, PollyDolly.

I quite like Stu, but I really hope he and Yasmeen don't get married and get lots of overacted storylines. Maybe they could emigrate to put their bad memories behind them? Please?

Aveline Fri 26-Aug-22 11:11:41

PollyDolly- now there's a thought. Stu's ex wife as murderer. Framed him. Presumably she did his washing so could have planted evidence on his clothes. If that's not the story I think GN should take over the storylines. We'd be much better at it!

I’ve been away and missed about 4 episodes of Corrie- nothing much has happened, it’s the same old story lines. Not sure what’s happened with Audrey or Kevin or Tyrone as they don’t seem to have appeared , but I’m assuming nothing much. How that factory keeps going beats me, they have about 4 machinists who spend most of the time chatting and drinking tea, and loads of office staff who don’t do much either, perhaps Stephen could recommend they relocate their manufacturing to China like every other factory around.

Don't forget the copious mounts of cream cakes they buy from Roy's! And many a lunch time is spent in the pub!

PollyDolly Fri 26-Aug-22 10:34:01

I think Stu's ex-wife murdered the young woman that Stu was having a fling with, hence. she has told him to back out of the conviction investigation or lose his daughter and granddaughter.

Doodledog Fri 26-Aug-22 10:26:29

Are they still filming under Covid rules?

They do seem to be rotating 'bubbles' of characters more than they used to, which is partly why some of the plot lines seem so thin, and the acting comes under more scrutiny, I think. If the Stu and Yasmeen story (for instance) popped up for a couple of minutes in between others it would be watered down a bit and not seem so tortured. It feels like a series of little plays just now, instead of the interwoven plots that soaps rely on.

Im a bit fed up of Gemma signing to anyone and everyone. I am the first to say sign language should be as common as the spoken word and I have trained to work with deaf/blind ( which was 1 heck of an experience ) but for some reason Gemma is annoying me when she does it to people who dont need it and Freda annoys the life out of me, what was all THAT about when she locked herself in the community centre with Aled???? I mean seriously.

As for Bernie, i think she is brilliant. Loved last night when she wholloped Dev across the mush hahahaha.... before she was informed he wanted a cleaner...then threw her self back down on the chair to celebrate hahahahaha.

Roll on tonight's episode ... yipeeeeee. ?

Calendargirl Thu 25-Aug-22 07:23:15

Yes, very naughty of Aadi to just present it to Kelly.

Strictly speaking, it’s Dev’s ring I suppose, and I’m sure he won’t approve of it being handed over (albeit temporarily) to bad girl Kelly (in his opinion).

What if;..

a) She loses it?

b It gets stolen?

c) They squabble, and she refuses to give it back?

shock

Lots of potential pitfalls coming up.

Aveline Thu 25-Aug-22 07:12:14

Oh yes!

God yes! Freda's awful. Meanwhile Kelly and Aadi are a lovely couple. Good actors.

That ring is going to cause problems…

OMG, Freda is nearly as bad as Carla who is nearly as bad as Yasmeen. Definitely keep her out of it. Ridiculous storyline about Audrey re-opening the salon. Stephen is overdoing the pantomime villain act - someone should tell him. No wonder Calla Balla (love that!) is suspicious of him. I've read that Gemma's mum, Bernie, has a double who will soon appear on the cobbles. Do we really need two of them? The new lovers, Dev's son and Kelly, are sweet. I hope they win the prize and live happily ever after.
