New thread required, old one full.

I haven't watched last night's episode yet, but surely Debbie would be better off talking to Leanne about "an insurance job", as Leanne did the same when she had a restaurant that was failing.

Calendargirl Sat 30-Jul-22 07:18:04

I’ll repeat what I observed in an earlier post.

Stephen has a distinctly seedy look about him, not how I would expect a successful businessman to look.

And this big business deal that was lost because of having no car? What was all that about?

And now Ryan and Debbie are in cahoots with the insurance scam on the bistro. Wasn’t she in enough trouble with dodgy Ray?

As ever, the Weatherfield Police will be kept busy.

I don't know which side we are supposed to be on. Is Audrey being patronised by Gail? Gail patronises everyone and has done since she was 17, so how are we supposed to tell? Or is Gail just looking out for the mum she inexplicably still loves after a lifetime of being let down and neglected, even though she is clearly being passed over now that the Golden Child has returned?

Does Demonic David have a soft spot for his old Gran, or is he also just hoping to get his hands on the dosh to expand his hairdressing empire?

Is Sarah hoping for a cut too (see what I did there?) How she and Adam pay the mortgage on that flat is beyond me. He has only had about three clients since the first lockdown and she sits about doing nothing all day in the factory - maybe they are hard up too.

Stephen is clearly wrong 'un, unless it's a double bluff and he's going to rescue the profits made on Grasmere Drive from the clutches of his family and donate them to Relate. Or WARTS? Is anyone in the street still a member of WARTS? Or the Square Dealers, come to that? At one time anyone who was anyone was 'on the square' and using peculiar but unsubtle sentence structure to let other members in on the act. "A square deal awaits at Elliot's the Butcher - I say you'll get a square, deal, if you know what I mean?"

Who knows? It's getting to be too much effort - I watch Corrie to relax, not to have to think about it.

I have to add this poor Kev.

I missed tonight's episode due to a powercut so i am referring to Wednesday nights viewing.

I cant stand that Stephen, wish he would disappear as quick as he appeared.

Regarding the Audrey storyline, I'm not toooo sure of its gist, is it a case of highlighting the outcome for some who gain the years with family thinking they know better and its a battle between Audrey and them ???

sodapop Fri 29-Jul-22 21:18:07

Not just you Maggiemaybe Audrey is really getting on my pip as well. As for the weird Stephen words fail me.
Time to move on from the Platts and see more of George the undertaker and Evelyn, a bit of light relief.

Calendargirl Fri 29-Jul-22 21:00:18

Jack will be taller than both Kevin and Abi by the end of the summer holidays.

He will be the tallest kid in the first year at secondary school.

Tonight’s storylines were dire, the psychic at the bistro, the potential insurance job, Summer and her ongoing weight issues….

lemsip Fri 29-Jul-22 20:05:41

is stephen something to do with summers boyfriend......

BlueBelle Fri 29-Jul-22 19:47:16

Stephen is unbearable the whole family is awful but he’s the very pits don’t like him don’t like his acting

Maggiemaybe Fri 29-Jul-22 19:17:08

Is Audrey getting on anybody else’s wick now, or is it just me? Everybody dancing attendance on her and putting up with her bad moods and sharp retorts (even if a lot of the putting up with is just with a view to getting their hands on her money), and all she does is moan and whinge. And Stephen’s awful as well, imho. Perhaps they could ship out to Italy together and continue delighting in one another’s company there.

Mind you, what on earth were they thinking with that birthday surprise (let alone how on earth did they afford it?). If anyone ever suggested I go back to work I’d be eyeing up the sleeping pills as well.

I thought Jack was in senior school ?
Have you seen Jack P Shepherd in Classic Corrie as David Platt, he was a very good child actor and still in it today

He was - and the role seems to have been written for him - he's believable as the older version of his younger self, if that makes sense.

Yes it does. Roll on tonight for the next instalment

Simon Barlow looks nothing like Peter. He doesn't have even the slightest resemblance to any of the Barlows. He's not a great actor either.

suep1953 Wed 27-Jul-22 15:15:25

Maybe they should put Jack in his bedroom with his games console for the next six months and he could then re-emerge as a different actor ie do a ‘Tracey Barlow’ .

Maybe if Jack had some more interesting storylines he might come into his own, but it's difficult to know why he was chosen
The actor does look a bit like Kevin, but he really can't act - the others at the audition must have been pretty hopeless.

I don't see how they can write him out without killing him off though - his mum is dead, he has no convenient siblings in Canada, and he's too young to go off to pursue a glittering career in line with his apparently non-existent talents grin.

That's a bit mean, as he's so young, but there must be other actors of his age who could do a much better job.

Maggiemaybe Wed 27-Jul-22 14:36:08

You’d have thought they could have found a younger actor. No wonder I was confused when he was talking about his leavers’ assembly and his GCSEs hadn’t been mentioned. grin

suep1953 Wed 27-Jul-22 12:16:46

The actor who plays Jack is actually 15 years old

suep1953 Wed 27-Jul-22 12:14:27

According to Corrie wiki Jack was born on 6/9/2010 and Hope on 6/12/2010 so Jack is 3 months older than Hope in the show but in real life looks a few years older!!

maddyone Tue 26-Jul-22 10:25:07

The storylines are just so unbelievable. Summer has ditched her Oxbridge plans and has landed herself a job at Underworld of all places! So unbelievable. Why would a talented young woman want to limit herself in such a way. Answer, she wouldn’t.

The Kelly kidnapping. Completely unbelievable. The police would have been involved in the abduction of a minor.

And Jack! Why was a boy who looks 15 years old in Year 6 alongside Hope? Utterly ridiculous. I had assumed he was at secondary school.

The storylines are so ridiculous. I don’t know why I keep on watching.

Aveline Tue 26-Jul-22 10:24:15

There a limit to what could possibly go on in one short street and a limited number of characters.
Maybe a spin-off series -'Grasmere Drive'?

Charleygirl5 Tue 26-Jul-22 10:18:07

I agree Aveline and the queue would be long. I would add the scriptwriters- I could do better myself.

Aveline Tue 26-Jul-22 10:02:10

Starting with Jack

Maggiemaybe Tue 26-Jul-22 08:58:48

I was wondering about Izzie as well. For a couple of episodes months ago we’d a massive song and dance about her anxiety and depression and wonky sewing, and nobody’s mentioned her since. Maybe her disappearance has something to do with her creepy neighbour….

And what about Max, the bullies and the dick pic, the threat of him going to jail for sending it to a minor? How was this resolved? Did I fall asleep and miss a whole come-uppance? Actually that’s not beyond the realms of possibility as the last thing I remember was Max begging David to pay them off, and David not having the money.

I was half expecting Max to embark on a murderous rampage and get rid of some of the cast’s dead wood for them.

Charleygirl5 Tue 26-Jul-22 08:42:31

BlueBelle there is little else to watch.

I may consider moving there as it is so easy to get a GP appointment and one is seen by a counsellor or another professional the next day. Where I live it is now a month for a telephone appointment and face-to-face is like gold dust.

I could not stand Alvina so I am dreading her return with the sprog in tow if that is what will happen.

BlueBelle Tue 26-Jul-22 07:30:55

So our Yasmine has become a femme fatale first Stephen after her, than Stu, mind you I m glad she’s got it on with Stu they seem right together
I don’t like Stephen or his accent (can it be real, if so sorry Stephen)
The Summer story is ridiculous please let’s have some reality and as for Aaron practically running the garage and telling his boss what to do when he’s just started as a junior (apprentice?) or just a junior is ridiculous … he d be making cups of tea and cleaning tools !!!
Gets dafter by the minute and still I watch ….sigh
