While on the Platts what a tiny man David is he is so thin he has a body like a child
It’s all so mad, why oh why do I watch it and even look forward to it ???

Yes, Sue Nichols is 78 and Helen Worth is 71. I quite like Gail myself. In fact I like most of the characters. My current favourite is Evelyn!

Kate1949 Thu 30-Jun-22 11:48:50

It makes me smile that Audrey is only about 7 years older than Gail.

Namsnanny

Does anyone think that the re introduction of Steven, Audrey's son into the plot is going to lead to Audrey going back with him to live? I've forgotten where, is it Canada or Italy?
To be honest I'd miss her.
Talking of leaving, I do wish Cathy hadn't gone. I'd rather that silly Old-Robbie-Williams lookalike character Brian left of the two.
Back onto Gail, the look on her face in the scene where Audrey banned her from visiting the hospital, was so childishly acted I thought.
And while I'm on it, that motor bike would have been the end of poor bony Audrey, but it true Corrie style she's sitting up in bed and being discharged in no time. grin

Its brilliantly unbelievable isnt it! Yes, I am with you all the way on Gail.... seriously she is so annoying...
Grrrrrrrrrrr. Its on tonight, im already poised ready for criticism hahaha.

But is Steven going to have a relationship with Tim’s mum ( her name escapes me at the moment)? They looked to be exchanging meaningful looks when they met up again.

If they do, and go on to get married, well, Audrey would end up as her MIL, she (the bride) would be Gail’s sister in law, Tim would be Audrey’s step grandchild …… I think.

The mind boggles.

confused

Good suggestion by namsnanny. Audrey could just go back with Steven or he could move into Grasmere Drive with her?

Elizabeth27 Wed 29-Jun-22 16:39:44

I wonder how Devs shop keeps going, there is a co-op around the corner that is probably cheaper and has more variety of food.

Nobody mentions Izzy anymore, has she left the area.

Cannot stand Gail, would like her to go back to Thailand.

Doodledog Wed 29-Jun-22 16:36:42

Ah, I’d forgotten about Gail buying the house back?.

All the same, they behave so badly to each other for such a ‘close’ family, don’t they?

Well apparently this is the history of Number 8 and we were all partly right in what we said.

From Wikipedia:

Following the construction of the house Gail and Martin became the owners and moved in with their children Nick, Sarah and David. Martin moved out in 2000 after divorcing from Gail. Gail's third husband, the serial killer Richard Hillman, attended to kill her and Sarah, David and Bethany in the garage, before then driving them into the canal. They were saved.

In 2011 David got married to Kylie Platt and she moved into the house. Gail remortgaged the house in early 2013 to start a new life with her mother's ex-boyfriend Lewis Archer, but Lewis took the money and ran. A betrayed Audrey chose not to bail her daughter out of her debts and instead loaned David and Kylie money to buy up the house, ending Gail's reign as owner after 22 years. But she took advantage of the situation by making it clear to them she was now just the landlady, and they were responsible for now paying for maintenance.

The garage was converted into an annex for Gail to live in. Callum Logan's body was hidden underneath the floor for several months after Kylie Platt killed him, although was uncovered when a van crashed into the building. The blame was put on Jason Grimshaw's late father Tony Stewart, as he was responsible for building the annex in the first place. Gail found it difficult to return to her annex due to sleeping on top of a body for many months, so Kylie and David moved into there.

Eight years after losing ownership, Gail became the owner once again after winning the house in a bid, money which she used left to her by her late father Ted Page.

My recollection is the same as yours Aveline but as somebody recently said ‘recollections may vary.’

Aveline Wed 29-Jun-22 12:39:25

Doodledog- keep up! David had to sell the house and Gail bought it in the nick of time after inheriting a legacy from her hitherto unknown Dad. It's her house. She can chuck them all out any time. Grasmere Drive sounds so nice and Audrey's house there looked lovely. God knows why she hangs around Coronation Street so much. Time her salon was reopened or has a change of use. Could introduce some new characters?

Doodledog Wed 29-Jun-22 11:55:25

No, Audrey got it because of Nigel Havers - a boyfriend of hers who was a con man. I can't remember the character's name. Gail also fell for his dubious charms, and he persuaded her to sign the house over to him. When he was caught out, he felt guilty about his betrayal of Audrey, and gave it to her (or gave her money and she bought it - I can't remember that, either), and she passed it to David as revenge on Gail. Gail lived in the garage for a while.

As I say - they will do things like that to one another, yet presumably sleep top to tail three in a bed.

Doodledog

The whole family is so unbelievable. Gail is not the type to go off to Thailand on her own to 'find herself'. Audrey is not the type to take decades-long revenge by hanging onto what is, in any moral sense, Gail's house, and passing it on to David The Devilchild. Shona has gone from being brain-damaged and utterly tactless to as 'normal' as any of them.

Who knows what evil intent has brought Stephen to the cobbles, but my money's on him being up to no good.

I stopped watching this a while ago but I don’t think the house on the cobbles ever belonged to Audrey, it was always Gail’s but she sold it to David as she didn’t want the upkeep any more. I think it was being auctioned, something to do with David being behind with the mortgage and also the problems with the sink hole, then Gail’s gay Dad died and left her money with which she was able to buy the house back so the house became Gail’s again, she may have passed it on to David since then, I’m not sure. Audrey has a house which she and Alf owned, in Grasmere Drive which appears to be an upmarket area and she has/had a flat above the hairdressers she owns/used to own There was a story about Audrey’s house having an expensive damp problem then it was never referred to again. I watched Corrie for years from the start but like other soaps it became a series of rushed story lines when there were more episodes a week.

Hahahaha Doodledog brilliant. Its beyond ridiculous.

Someone mentioned the other day about Max's sister being upstairs still hahaha ( Ive forgotten her name now ) and it wasnt until I read that, that I thought ohh yeah !! I forgot about her. haha...

Mental, BUT I love it..

hmmhmmhmm

Doodledog Tue 28-Jun-22 12:57:31

Call me conventional, but I can't imagine any family I know carrying on living together cheek by jowl, looking after one another and generally behaving like the Platts (or whatever they're called) after the mother and daughter both had an affair with the same bloke, who tricked the daughter out of the house she'd worked all her life to buy and gave it to the mother, who then passed it on to the son who has such a precarious relationship with his mother that he insists on calling her by her given name.

humptydumpty Tue 28-Jun-22 12:10:50

It's such a pity, I really enjoyed that storyline ages ago when Audrey and Gail fell for Nigel Havers' escort - he did a wonderful takedown of Gail at the end!

Hear, hear lemsip, I love Corrie don't get me wrong, but gee wizz, a few of their storylines are absolutely ridiculous and I wish they would do is all a favour and write Gail Platt/Tilsley/ McIntyre out...

lemsip Tue 28-Jun-22 00:26:14

the storyline of peter and the surgeon is ridiculous.

Serendipity22 Sat 25-Jun-22 22:50:49

Haaaa, good observation Doodledog.

Doodledog Sat 25-Jun-22 20:13:03

All of Gail's children talk differently from all the others. Only David has a Mancunian accent - Sarah and Nick definitely don't. Even Max has a sort of generic Northern one, and Lily has been upstairs for so long she could have a Glaswegian accent for all we know.

pinkprincess Sat 25-Jun-22 20:06:45

Sarah took Bethany with her to live in Milan with Uncle Steven when she was about four years old .Both of them returned when Bethany was a stroppy teenager and still speaking broad Mancunian, no trace of Italian accent.

Serendipity22 Sat 25-Jun-22 18:51:01

Absolutely, phewww I am soooo glad I am not the only 1 who finds her b*** annoying, yes, she has re-vamped into an absolute DRIP ( or worse ) and my TV is heading in the direction of the window, either the window or the hammer !!! hahahaha......

Sara1954 Sat 25-Jun-22 18:39:17

They have turned her into this dim witted, pathetic creature, I should think Helen Worth is very annoyed.
