New thread required, old one full.

I mean, come on. I know that it's a soap and not a documentary, yada, yada, yada, but the thing that is driving me insane at the moment, is the ease with which any old Tom, Dick or Harry can just wander into that neonatal intensive care unit, to look at Alfie. How on earth did Toyah get in there tonight? And even Imran, before we had it confirmed that he is Alfie's father, was in and out. And Kevin.

All my Facebook memories this week are of when my granddaughter was born, and was at first in the NICU and then the neonatal ward, and ONLY her parents were allowed in to see her. The rest of the family had to wait an agonising week before she was allowed onto the ward with her mother, and we could finally meet her.

Just refresh me…. where is Evelyn going to live when Fiz moves in with Phill?

Beechnut Mon 04-Apr-22 20:15:57

Billy just walked into the flat with a Co-op bag Aveline ?

Aveline Mon 04-Apr-22 12:51:13

Ken??!!

Imran is nice, but Adam is the best looking man in coronation street, closely followed by Peter Barlow & Daniel.
I clearly have a thing for the Barlow family.

Me too, I would even consider Ken!

All the small terraced houses in the street apparently have umpteen bedrooms upstairs. Eileen can fill hers with any amount of lodgers without being overcrowded. Chesney and Gemma have 5 children and mother in law no problem. But Sally and Tim don’t appear to have any bedroom and the only place they can have an amorous encounter is downstairs when Elaine has popped out for a pint of milk. It’s turned into Carry On Corrie this week.

What a thing to say! Of course he would, he loves Elsie doesn’t he?

Somehow ended up on the wrong message, sorry!

There is a supermarket which is referred to sometimes. The manager used to be s regular. Can't remember his mame. Also I see there's a Co-op but it's never mentioned. Must be a product placement ad.

glammanana Mon 04-Apr-22 11:52:14

You never see any of the families doing the weekly shop,or do all the children live on beans on toast bought from Dev's shop ?

Grannynannywanny Mon 04-Apr-22 11:41:03

Some of these soapland children should be on toothpaste adverts as they seem to spend a lot of time upstairs brushing their teeth.

I think I’ve spotted Elsie in a Waitrose advert.

Must watch out for it again.

She’s supposed to be in her bedroom ?

I bet she ends up adopting Elsie on her own anyway. Are single people allowed to adopt? I think they are.
( sorry, answering my own question there )

Calendargirl Mon 04-Apr-22 09:37:34

But if Toyah was putting Elsie’s best interests first Franbern, which she was, she couldn’t go ahead with the adoption. Her relationship with Imran was ruined, it wouldn’t have been the happy family that had been envisaged.

So she cast aside her own wishes, leaving Elsie to be adopted by a proper loving couple.

If only we could all be as good!

Despite many people thinking that there is such a thing as Common Law wife/husband, it does not exist in law. So, Fitz has no legal economic right to any part of the house sale, or even to sell that house at all. Only Tyrone will be asked to sign the forms should a sale go ahead.

Corrie Street scriptwriters often skate of such legalities when it suits them. And, Ruby, - again the remaining parents (Tyrone), is her legal adult. Always amazes me that those two girls are talked about as 'sisters' when they have absolutely no bioligical or legal relationship whatsoever.

Whereas, I agree that the acting by Toyah, I am pretty sure that in real life, in such a circumstance, the desire to adopt the young child would have over-ridden her need to blurt out the truth, at that point. Once the adoption had taken place, then she could have told him what she thought about him, etc.

I suspect Phil may be part of John Stapes family. I know they’ve done that before but scriptwriters are clearly running out of ideas and recycling plots.

Grannynannywanny Sun 03-Apr-22 22:25:36

^Grannynannywanny you usually come up with good plots. What's to do?

I think I’ve run out of ideas Aveline, I’ll need to give it some thought?

I see you like Phil. I’m not so sure about him. I hope for Fiz’s sake he’s the real deal. She deserves some happiness. I fear she’s not going to find it with Phil. I think he’s hiding something from his past. We might need PC Plod to check him out now he’s decided to reinstate himself as Weatherfield’s one man crime buster.

Aveline Sun 03-Apr-22 18:53:53

That flats pretty full too!

BlueBelle Sun 03-Apr-22 18:06:47

Calandergirl I don’t think they do have any rights

I too wonder why Ruby is with Fiz perhaps atyrone couldn’t take her as he’s just in a house share isn’t he ?

Aveline Sun 03-Apr-22 17:56:58

I quite like Phil. He fits in well really. I'd be very sorry to see Fiz leave. Don't want irritating Alina back. Kevin would need a new love interest if Abi goes.

Two questions remain unanswered for me
1) why is Fiz entitled to anything from the sale of Tyrone's house. They are not married and it was left to Tyrone by Jack Duckworth
2) Why is Ruby going with Fiz, she is Tyrone's daughter and as far as I know has not been adopted by Fiz.

Think I may need to get out more smile

1) No idea, but do co-habitees have certain rights after living together for years?

2) I think the same, but no doubt it would be too traumatic to split up ‘The Girls’, especially with Hope and all her past traumas.

Calendargirl Sun 03-Apr-22 17:20:06

Yes HurdyGurdy, I think Alina will be back plus baby Tyrone.

I think the scriptwriters mistakenly think the Tim/Sally sex scenes are a bit of light relief.

They aren’t, they are excruciating.

HurdyGurdy Sun 03-Apr-22 17:05:01

oh what on EARTH are the writers doing to Sally?? There was that AWFUL scene where she urinated in the public park, not a hop-skip-and-a-jump away from her own home. And now this super-charged libido nonsense. This isn't the Sally we've had in our homes all these years. What on earth are they doing to her character? I bet poor Sally Dynevor absolutely cringes every time she receives a script these days.

I'm sure I've read that Adam Barlow is leaving the Street as well, so where will everyone go for legal advice now, I wonder, with no Imran and no Adam? Wasn't Todd studying law at one time? Will he fill their shoes?

Agree with previous posters who could not care less about the Fay/Craig/Emma storylines. Total yawnfest.

But I am becoming drawn into the Fiz/Thingumybob storyline. I'm quite sure that Fiz and Tyrone's house isn't going to be sold, and I'm convinced that there is something dodgy about Thingumybob. I'm quite sure he's after the money from the house sale.

Do we think we've seen the last of Alina, or is she going to return, babe in arms? Or will Fiz and Tyrone rekindle their relationship?

I do not like men with beards so that knocks out Imran. His eyelashes are very long though.
