HofG and RO are brilliant. RO as an author didn't work for me, I've never yet spoken with anyone who was impressed with his book, which seems to be confirmed by many other posts here.
Is there a toiletry you can no longer buy and miss?
Does anyone else enjoy this? I record it every weekday and watch after my dinner. I think I enjoy it because I seem to be quite good at it despite lacking knowledge of football and films. Of course there is nobody to compete with at home, but I usually beat the contestants to the 'buzzer' (unless there is a delay?
). I hope it is keeping my brain active.

Clever presenters are Richard Osman and Alexander Armstrong. I love both pointless and House of games. My 2 Westies and I share cuddles and watch House of games after we have our tea. I also think the question setters are so clever and inventive with the questions. Especially when their children set them. Keep it up everyone involved with the programme.

I record alot in an afternoon to have on in the evening, mainly for background noise as I usually don't just sit and watch TV.
Most TV in the evening is rubbish to me. I'm not a fan of the soaps.
I record Lingo, Place in the Sun, Pointless and The Chase so there is always something to catch up on if I'm out/busy etc.
I've not done House of Cards. I don't know why. I'll have to try it
I love doing the daily Wordle/Quordle games etc. Always liked quiz and brain activity games.
Having cared for my late mom with mixed dementia I'm determined to keep this brain ticking over
Have you tried Octurdle? I love these word games.
We've been to the filming of Mastermind a couple of times - it's fascinating - and they did explain that the question rounds are carefully timed to even out the long and short questions overall.

I love House of Games. My favourite rounds are Highbrow Lowbrow, where I never know the lowbrow question, and Where is Kazhakstan. It amazes me how bad the contestants are to both these :-))
With you totally, yggdrasil
Me too!
If I liked Richard Osman I would, but I don't, don't recognise most of the 'celebrities ', and as I'm moving about can't see the screen for the other bit to an answer...

Love this programme but absolutely agree, it never fails to amaze me how little supposed well educated tv presenters know about the world in general, particularly geography. Naga Munchetty springs to mind when she couldn’t identify New Zealand on the map ….. I mean really??
Enjoy most quiz shows. University challenge is definitely a challenge. Feel like brain of Britain if I manage to get any right.
We also love HoG and switch straight from Pointless to BBC2 for it. I agree some of the contestants do seem rather intellectually challenged, let’s say, and I think it is rather unfair for their agents to volunteer them for something which shows them up so badly. Cringe! Yesterday’s programming, though, was ridiculous. Why start the football draw on BBC1 and then transfer it partway through to BBC2 at 6pm to make way for the News, probably annoying both those who wanted to watch the draw and those who wanted to watch HoG! Long gone are the days when not everyone had BBC2 so there is no logic at all

I love House of Games, but can’t believe how uneducated (thick) some of the celebrities are.
Saw one a while back with the geography round ‘Where is Kazakhstan‘. The question was ‘Where would you find the Venus de Milo?’. One celeb knew it was in the Louvre in Paris and then proceeded to mark Paris in Sweden!!
Bluebell I agree with you I think pointless is pointless when Osman goes on and on listed the answers you could have had well that's boring beyond words
Lucca - I agree wholeheartedly, he has the most boring voice on television and I found his first book boring as well.
Love it! Usually watch Pointless BBC1 before turning over to Richard Osman's House of Games on BBC2.
Rowyn - I totally agree with you. We kept switching over for HOG as it was meant to come on at 6.30 and as you say it was still football! (sport always take precedence!) It finally came on at 7.00 and Lightning was cancelled. Jo Caulfield won and also won the trophy.
Volver, I agree not keen on the presenter. The Chase is a favourite here, with Bradley just perfect as host.
Agreed! He's so smug and self important. Yuk! And although I do enjoy Pointless I can't bear the way he continually belittles Alexander Armstrong. Not funny !! One dose of him is enough for one day.
Lucca, I also cannot stand Richard Osman and his book was a load of rubbish.
Have watched HOG from the start and really enjoy it, even if I'm hopeless at some rounds, such as geography and pop songs. Used to like Richard Osman too, but have gone off him somewhat. Thought his first book was complete rubbish, written so badly, and felt very cross that it was a roaring success in terms of sales, just because he is well known and had massive publicity to sell it.
His partnership with Alexander Armstrong on Pointless hasn't helped, as they seem to have developed more and more this sort of patronising banter, As for AA and his love of pretending to eat or drink at every opportunity really annoys me. Every viewer must know by now that he is good at miming eating a curry or roast dinner!!! We don't need continual reminders. And he does like to name drop too.
Incidentally last night (Friday) I was furious when I congratulated myself on noticing that HOG was going too be on 30 minutes later than usual because of some stupid football draw , but switched on at 6.30 to find it was still football which continued for the next half hour, and didn't see HOG.
So can someone tell me if HOG was on at 6pm as usual, which will infuriate me! If so, who won the final round?
Tried to watch it but not for me. Him indoors and me like quizzy Monday - Only Connect and University Challenge. We’re always amazed at how much knowledge the contestants have, and the ability to think laterally and find those connections. Occasionally feeling smug if we get to an answer first.
I cannot understand the popularity of Osman’s Thursday Murder Club - I thought it was lazy stereotyping of old people and patronising. Apparently publishers pay to have a book put in first place on the bestseller list - I prefer a good Val McDermid.
'I'm Terrible at Dating' always makes me feel smug! I am of a generation who had to learn dates in our history lessons. Clearly, most 'celebs' missed out on this experience!
Love House of Games, we watch it regularly. I usually have to check out at least 2-3 of the “famous faces” on Google because we have no idea who they are! I think Richard Osman is a good host and keeps things light-hearted. I’m going to get poster maps to stick on our kitchen wall because I’m really bad at where’s Kazakhstan. Love his books too I listen to them on audible, read by Lesley Manville who is brilliant.
I'm a great fan of this show but record it every day-then if needed I can pause it to allow my Granbrain to judder into action before I answer. Always fast-forward through the boring (to me) intro about who wants which prize. Unlike most of you ladies, can't do "Where is K?"-can't even spell it-unless like one happy day recently it's set in UK. Also am "number dyslexic" (dysnumerate) so "Distinctly Average" way beyond me,as is the modern, ahem,"music". I like the show, I like Ricahrd and love to watch my own weird way.
been watching it for a while a really enjoyable programme and love to play along
Oh I just love this show. I need to get famous so that I can go on it. Perfect balance of quiz and general loveliness .
