Anyone else watching? Anyone else got tears pouring down their face? (If you're planning to watch later, it's not all sad, some lovely funny and touching moments too....)

I’ve been watching it, very moving.
I read the book a couple of years ago and the script did stick to the book.
If you enjoyed the drama, then read the book, it’s very well written.

It’s just finished, wow that boy is terrific isn’t he. I have really enjoyed it, and would recommend it to anyone.

I loved the book, it was so moving. What channel is this on?

Grammaretto Fri 10-Jun-22 22:52:23

I have watched and found it very moving. I agree about the young actor - brilliant!

Agree with your comments, made me cry at times. How cruel splitting the brothers up. There should be a follow up book where they reunite.

It was on BBC2. Very moving and great acting, especially Cole Martin who played Leon. Will look out for the book.

Riveting, and emotional, even though I had read the book. Beautifully produced, great acting especially Cole Martin.
Allsorts - the author, Kit de Waal, had experienced the responsibility and difficulty of being on panels which decided the futures of children.

I thought it very good too, and sadly, true to life. I remember as a new SW being told that children over 10 were already unadoptable. The young actor was excellent as were the cast. Well worth watching.

I enjoyed watching this film and I thought and actors were well casted especially Cole Martin. I look forward to seeing him in other roles in the future.

I’ve avoided it as I’m finding so much to cry about these days?

Kate1949 Sat 11-Jun-22 16:02:11

I agree that Cole Martin was great.

It felt very real to me. My DS and her DH adopted a little boy of mixed race in the 1970s and they knew his baby brother was being adopted elsewhere.
I do not think those brothers have ever met.
Well done to Lenny Henry for bringing this book to the screen.

I thought it was brilliant. The acting was amazing from all of the Cast and especially so from the young actor who played Leon

Just caught up with My Name is Leon, and it was fabulous! I wish the BBC had issued a tissue warning though !!
Acting was first class, and I was left wanting to know what happened next! Every now and again auntie beeb drops in a surprise programme of this calibre! Will recommend to everyone!

DNA test might link them up if they ever wanted to meet.

Thanks Mokryna that's true but only if they both took one surely?

mokryna Sun 12-Jun-22 11:57:17

Yes, of course but that would be a sort of poof that they both wanted to find their blood family.
