Due to the situation in Ukraine as U.K. were runners up this year they have been asked to host Eurovision Song Contest next year - yippee ???

I echo that. Who’d have thunk it? ?

I said to anyone who would listen that I thought we would host in 2023

Well done GrannyGravy, for some reason it never entered my head.

Nor mine and we have venues for the show without spending a penny. I cannot stand it but many disagree.

Me too GrannyGravy13 to be honest I’m not that bothered, but I did say!

Can’t bear it. What will it cost the BBC? How many fewer decent programmes will they put on as a result? Few enough already.

Eurovision is a money maker, not a loss leader.

Won't matter to me, no longer watch it.

I don't usually watch it these days but our Sam Ryder was fantastic this year.

I tried to watch it this year, but i found that I could only listen to some of the songs because of all the flashing lights.

When the broadcaster needed for most songs to warn of flashing lights it seems to me that for a song contest there is no need, and no good reason, to allow flashing lights.

I hope that the BBC do not allow flashing lights at all.

Won’t it cost the BBC less to cover Eurovision if we’re hosting it?

The hospitality industry won’t be complaining either.

Same here I said at the time it will come to UK, I thought it was a no brainer.
Brilliant it's been confirmed.

My daughter and I are going to try and get tickets to go.

Interesting. Results were less political this year (apart from Ukraine obvs though their entry was good). GM will be in his element!

I love the ESC (always have - and have seen every one) and would love to go. It's a silly bit of frippery but in this difficult time, why not?!

Presumably putting on such a show would be costly but pay back would come in the gain to the hospitality business and I guess they need it.....

Great news! I love it...yay!
