Yes Urms. I was working in a County Court in 1982 and it was just like that in the office, peeling walls and dirty carpet. Had health and safety been invented then?

I’ve just watched Ep.1
I really enjoyed it. Gosh wasn’t 1982 shabby and dreary? I don’t mean the dole - it’s the office, the background. Mind you, as Chrissie’s red van was driving along on pick ups I noticed the rows and rows of neat, well looked after terraced houses - hardly any cars along each street in the sunshine. Very few parked cars. No wonder our kids could play out in them! Now? Every house has at least two cars and nowhere to park them. We look so crowded everywhere. Bet those Boys from the Blackstuff would’ve been surprised to see what trappings of wealth all their nippers would have 40 years on eh?

I've binge watched on iPlayer. It's still relevant today. Brilliant acting.

I worked in the area it was mainly filmed at the time. It will bring back memories for me as it has changed a lot since then.

It was great wasn't it? Oh yes I thought I recognised the policeman.

Kate1949 Just finished watching the Yosser episode. Although I remembered very little of the first three episodes, I remembered virtually all of this one as it happened. Amazing acting, totally heartbreaking indeed. I also watched the wee BH prequel piece, very moving to see him so obviously affected by events.
On a lighter note, the policeman with the bloody nose was played by Andrew Schofield. I was in Liverpool visiting a friend in 1984, the year of the Garden Festival. We were passed in the street one day by this young man who we both thought we recognised (first time I’d been to Liverpool, so don’t know why I thought I’d know anyone), but smiled, said hello. He did the same to us. It was only later we realised it was “Scully” (AS) which was a big TV hit that year.

Did anyone watch tonight's episode Yosser's Story? Powerful, heartbreaking stuff. Bernard Hill was incredible sad

Just watched the first three episodes on iPlayer. I’m surprised at how little I remembered, the only two characters that I instantly knew were Chrissie and Yosser. Superb acting all round, and very relevant to today’s social issues. Am looking forward to the rest of it.

We watched the pre thing at the start with Bernard Hill saying playing Yosser Hughes gave him problems with his mental health. Brilliant acting.

I only found out about ten minutes before it was on while I was mooching around for something to watch. I'm so glad I found it.

I noticed this on the tv schedules at the weekend and have set the whole series to record. Really looking forward to watching it with Julie Walters and Jean Boht as I so I enjoyed her in Bread. It's great to be able to re-visit some of my favourite programmes.

I’ve recorded it. I’m really looking forward to seeing it again - a lot of the issues in it are still very relevant today.

Just caught this being repeated on BBC4. What a fantastic series this was.
