The Gdcs (6 and 7) really wanted to see this, so I took them today. I suppose dd and I should have checked more carefully, but it’s nothing like we expected, not remotely a gentle film like the original.
Wartime, bombs, a black American serviceman getting beaten up by their military police for consorting with a white woman, a young black American deserter hiding from them…
Gdcs do watch all sorts but they found it scary and upsetting, we left before the halfway point.
Just thought I’d mention for anyone else who might be thinking of taking relatively young children.
