What a coincidence! I was listening to some old episodes of "A Good Read" and this book came up. I can't watch the film as I can't access iPlayer from where I live, but I might order the book.

Casdon I saw the live version at our local Rep, probably around the same time. It was the first and only time that I’ve seen virtually everyone in a full theatre in tears by the end.

I have heard it is very, very sad.

Sorry When not Where!

I saw Where the Wind Blows in a theatre production in Manchester in the early eighties. It was one of the most profoundly moving plays I’ve ever seen - beautifully observed, but so sad, I’ve never forgotten it.

I've never seen that.

It’s a truly lovely wee film. I’m hoping they also show When the Wind Blows sometime soon.

It’s brilliant. I tried for ages to get dh to read the book, but once he had, he was hooked, and we’ve got the DVD too. I think he particularly liked it because Ethel and Ernest’s house was in Wimbledon Park, where his folks also lived until the late 80s. He worked out which road and went back for a look. I dare say there’ll be a blue plaque on the house now - if not, I’ll want to know why!
