I`ve just watched Les Dawson`s 30 Funniest Moments on Catch up, and loved it! I was a great fan of his, it really doesn`t feel like 29 years since he died, he was only 62.

We watched it. It was brilliant.

I watched it.
My favourite sketches used to be Cissie and Ada.

Callistemon21 Sun 21-Aug-22 23:42:28

He had to have been a very good piano player to play well-known music so badly ???

I love this video of Les with Olivia Newton John. They are both cracked up laughing by the end.

A very, very clever man.
John Culshaw is doing a one man show as him at Edinburgh at the moment.
I hope that it makes its way to the television.

Oh I loved Les Dawson. Cassie and Add a great favorite. Of course he wouldn't be allowed these days! Much too sensitive!

I liked him too. Especially Cissie and Ada. He was a talented pianist too as Callistemon said. It was nice to see clips of him again.

Oh yes, his piano playing! It reduces me to helpless laughter every time. I have played excerpts to my children over the years to explain why I have come home from church sometimes saying " the organist was a bit Les Dawson today ".

Dawson was such a talented writer and performer that he would have easily transcended the mores of the time.
He wasn’t just your run of the mill Working Mens Club comedian.
Les would have been able to create comedy to please any audience.
He would probably be hosting HIGNFY or something similar

He was brilliant and the comedy is timeless.

Thanks Blssoming

Wasn't she lovely sad

I doubt that his MIL jokes would be allowed now but he had a really good relationship with his MIL.

I'd give in if I were you wink

Pudding123 Mon 22-Aug-22 16:44:23

He was brilliant so much better than the comedians who have to rely on using four letter words to get a laugh

Blossoming Mon 22-Aug-22 16:46:22

He was also a good singer, but being Les he could never resist larking about.

AGAA4 Mon 22-Aug-22 16:57:34

Do you remember his Basil Smallpiece sketch. Would be banned now probably.

Callistemon21 Mon 22-Aug-22 22:50:09

I think it was Cosmo Smallpiece. I wasn't keen on him.

There really was a Sir Basil Smallpeice who was director of BOAC
