I liked him too. Especially Cissie and Ada. He was a talented pianist too as Callistemon said. It was nice to see clips of him again.

Oh yes, his piano playing! It reduces me to helpless laughter every time. I have played excerpts to my children over the years to explain why I have come home from church sometimes saying " the organist was a bit Les Dawson today ".

Dawson was such a talented writer and performer that he would have easily transcended the mores of the time.
He wasn’t just your run of the mill Working Mens Club comedian.
Les would have been able to create comedy to please any audience.
He would probably be hosting HIGNFY or something similar

He was brilliant and the comedy is timeless.

He was also a good singer, but being Les he could never resist larking about.

Do you remember his Basil Smallpiece sketch. Would be banned now probably.

I think it was Cosmo Smallpiece. I wasn't keen on him.

There really was a Sir Basil Smallpeice who was director of BOAC
