I always thought he was, VioletSky. He drops out of the sky at the start of the programmes.
I loved Mr.Bean, he always made me laugh. And Blackadder was sheer genius.

I never found Mr Bean remotely funny. However, Rowan Atkinson is a clever man - Mr Bean is largely silent and is very popular and thus marketable throughout the world. Business is business!

Wasn't Mr Bean an Alien?

Pretty sure he was

My autistic daughter absolutely loves Mr Bean and finds it hilarious, I hadn't honestly thought about it like that

I've even found one with English subtitles.

While I admire Rowan Atkinson (no allures, intelligent and perceptive) , I have never found Mr Bean funny. The kids love him, though, and the fact that he uses little language has made him beloved the world over.

I was looking for the sketch where he tries to put a picture straight and demolishes the whole room, to show my DGS, but couldn't find it. I'm sure there is such a thing. I couldn't find it on YouTube, so I gave up in the end and showed him an earlier one which is very similar and had him screaming with laughter. It is a vintage German sketch, again, with very little language. Again, it doesn't make me laugh, but it is very clever. Will post a link.

I feel the same about Frank Spencer in Some Mothers. Probably even more so.
What a very odd program that was.

Man v. Bee with RA is quite funny to begin with.

The first series of Blackadder (The Black Adder) was rather odd too. Ben Elton joined writers Atkinson and Richard Curtis in series two, which vastly improved things.
My favourite series by far is Blackadder the Third, but Goes Forth is widely accepted as the very best one.

I never knew that Mr Bean had mental health issues. I thought he was a made up comedic character.

I just never got Mr Bean, not my type of humour. Similar type of comedy I am a huge fan of though is Monsieur Hulot. Blackadder, I really enjoyed.

He lived next to my brother for many years - a very quiet man.

Loved Blackadder, particularly the final series. Never once cracked even a smile at Mr Bean.

I loved Blackadder. Not so keen on Mr Bean, although my OH finds it hilarious.

I hate Mr Bean. Rowan Atkinson was so excellent in Blackadder, I can't think why he'd go on to make such drivel.

We like Black Adder too Yammy and still watch it. Mr. S. and the boys used to watch Mr. Bean but I've never like it.

Glad I'm not the only one. Especially Black Adder goes over the top. One of My DD's does the other different. I like the advert where the rug gets set on fire as well I still laugh at that.smile

I've met someone who went to school with Rowan Atkinson, they said he used to have the classes in an uproar, he could throw his voice and make it sound as if another teacher or the Head had come into the room. He also mimicked the other boys. At school age, they all found it very funny. I liked Black Adder Dh definitely not. He likes Norman Wisdom-type humour and it makes me cringe. I get told I am a sadist and have banana-skin humour.hmm

I never found Mr Bean funny either Daddima not particularly for the reasons you give but that sort of humour does not appeal to me. I did like Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder though.

I have just seen a clip of this on Twitter, and, having never found it remotely funny, am wondering how it was ever acceptable to make a figure of fun of someone who has obvious mental health/autistic spectrum issues ( and I know he’s not real!)
