University Challenge

OC was really hard tonight. I’m trying to concentrate more on that because I realised I was so sure I wouldn’t know the answers that I didn’t really try.

I love both OC and UC. Especially UC, because I am better at it. I watch to try and answer the questions. I rarely even know or care which team won, unless I have a personal interest in the team.. It’s my own performance I’m judging. UC had some very easy questions tonight, I thought - but then any question is easy if you know it. I found OC harder.

I like Jeremy Paxman very much and will miss him.

I got 4 too - the Leeds castle one was just a guess - my right answers so often are!

Hooray for BBC2 and a chance to use my brain, learn some new things and have something more interesting and enjoyable to think about. Takes the mind away from the doom and gloom and total shambles of the news ! Cheers for monday evening!

Reading an article about the UC contestants it said that they are allocated certain subjects to swot up on. That’s why, when certain questions are asked the team captain seems to know who on the panel might know the answer. A bit like someone doing their specialist subject on Mastermind. By the way, was it just me that was unnerved by the lad with the weird hairdo on the losing team. It made me feel very awkward for him and I hesitate to mention it for that reason.

I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw the schedule for Monday night. At last, freedom from endless, mindless repeats. I'm always happy when I can keep up with the Mastermind contestants. I scratch my head at the OC challenges and try to get the better of the bright young sparks on UC - though I am mystified by the mathematical questions, but then, so are the arts students.

I actually did quite well on Only Connect for the first time ever. Quite chuffed with myself ( by well I mean getting several answers right instead of one).

Yes -Monday night is one of the best things about Autumn on TV. Notgran my thoughts about UC exactly.

Yes quiz night is back. Add Mastermind too.

Yes we often remark Monday night's quiz programmes on BBC2 almost make the TV Licence value for money (almost). Love OC the most and am very proud of myself if I even understand half the questions. If I can understand the question and even answer any, then I am very proud.

Love it but it won’t be the same without Paxman he’s unique
