I missed this series when it was shown in the 90's but I remembered people talking about it at work.

It is being re-shown and I have watched it all. It is very interesting to see the young Daniel Craig, Christopher Eccleston and Gina McKee. Great acting, absorbing plot. I was so impressed.

Oooh, I loved it. Wasn't Alistair McGowan in it too?

Are you thinking of Mark Strong?

No, I was thinking of Alistair McGowan but it was the Preston Front he was in - i'e just checked.

Apologies, I was thinking that perhaps they look quite similar?

And Alun Armstrong and Malcolm McDowell!
Daniel Craig didn't look much like James Bond then did he.

I saw this first time around and was utterly gripped. Christopher Eccleston was mesmerising.

We watched it when it was first shown; it's amazing how relevant some of the topics raised are still under discussion today. The acting was brilliant, only spoiled from time when DH would turn to me and say "You know who that is? That's James Bond!"! And the actor who played Felix was so good, hard to believe that he was once "Groutie" in "Porridge".

It's part of the BBC 4 retrospective. I imagine it will be on iPlayer.

Finished watching it last night - thought it was brilliant and remembered it well It was so good not to have to strain to see it and also hear what was being said. I'll admit to being biased (child of the 50s/60's) but the music was great. Bit scary how things haven't changed much re politics, poverty (the rich getting richer, etc!!)
