So sorry to read this. I love seeing her as a young woman, it seems such a long time ago, in Samson and Delilah.

RIP Angela. She was a lovely actress and I enjoyed all the films I saw with her in them. I seem to remember her in Mrs Harris goes to Paris, but that was a long time ago. Bedknobs and Broomsticks for us this weekend too.

A good actress and a good socialist who campaigned to end violence against women and girls.

Great actress with a long and varied career. Angela Lansbury brought pleasure to many people.
RIP Angela

So sad. Yet she had a good long life.

I watched Company of Wolves last night in tribute. An erotic horror film based on a story by another Angela, Angela Carter, who also wrote the screenplay and died 30 years ago, much too young. Angela Lansbury played the granny quite brilliantly. That film came out in 1984 and she was no spring chicken then!

Did you know by the way that she was Oliver Postgate's cousin?

Callistemon21 Wed 12-Oct-22 19:23:48

Her roles were so many and ranged so widely, but Bedknobs and Broomsticks will always be one of the most lasting memories for me.

RIP Angela Lansbury

Who is/was Oliver Postgate?

Urmstongran Wed 12-Oct-22 19:28:37

I read today:

“Dame Angela was born in London, the daughter of Irish actress Moyna Macgill and English politician Edgar Lansbury.

Her grandfather, George Lansbury, served as Labour Party leader in 1932-34.”

Georgesgran Wed 12-Oct-22 19:35:25

Oliver Postgate - Bagpuss, Noggin the Nog, Ivor the Engine, Clangers.

Thanks Georgesgran ?
So Keir what an alumni eh in the Labour school?

GrannyGravy13 Wed 12-Oct-22 20:04:36

I read somewhere today that Penny Mourdant is a relation to Dame Angela.

Urmstongran Wed 12-Oct-22 20:07:08

Apparently we are all only six degrees of separation!
Maybe.

Hi long lost cousin x

Callistemon21 Wed 12-Oct-22 20:18:34

It doesn't mean related, necessarily, just that a cousin had a friend who lived next door to someone who etc .....
Often it's more like three degrees of separation even with a seemingly unimaginable connection.
