The Lost King (film about the discovery of Richard III’s grave.)

To be honest I rarely go to the pictures, as they say, nor do I watch tv very much.

I really do not like the fictionalising of living people. It strikes me as rather distasteful.

I think the worst film I saw was Gorillas in the Mist, supposedly portraying the life of Dian Fossey the primatologist. It should have been a documentary.

I’m awkward about films based on literature.
One of my favourite writers Colette, portrayed by Keira whatever, Nicole Kidman with a prosthetic nose portraying Virginia Woolf and now “Emily” acted by another babe, looking nothing like her.
But as volver says, it’s a film, not a documentary (which I often prefer) and we can’t expect film producers to be as well educated as we are ?

I have the ability to totally tune out of adverts - which is extremely useful?

It’s on LBC constantly. It seems morally wrong.
I googled the Einstein situation and apparently there is a long running legal battle about who owns his image

Oh an advert?? I was thinking a book or film. I never watch adverts as all the channels that have adverts I record and fast forward the adverts. Saves a lot of time and irritation.

That Einstein thing has been really bothering me volver.
I was even thinking of starting a thread about it.
It seems very wrong to use a real, dead person and their reputation to sell a product that is totally unrelated.
I think that I’ve seen other adverts use him in the past too.

It's a film. It's fiction.

It may surprise people to learn that the Americans weren't the ones who liberated the Enigma machine and William Wallace never had an affair with Isabella of France. Also, Einstein never had a smart meter.

I haven’t seen or will be going to see the film, but I have seen a very good documentary outlining exactly what monica said. It was on a few years ago now, probably when it was all taking place or just after.

I went through a period of being very interested in the Plantagenets (still am a bit) so this was something I watched with interest.

As an archaeologist and alumni of the University of Leicester Archaeology Dpartment, I will not be going to see it.

Some of it was filmed just down the road from where I stay, as well as a number of locations in Edinburgh.

We went to see it on Friday and DH really enjoyed it.
For me the obsession Phillipa had for the long-dead King, and the apparitions of him throughout the film, was surreal but the historical intrigue was maintained by the superb acting.

We thoroughly enjoyed it - highly recommended. Thought the actress (Sally Hawkins) who played Philippa Langley, the woman behind it all, was brilliant.

FannyCornforth There's a well filmed documentary on the discovery of Richard III's remains on Amazon Prime. I watched it last week so it will hopefully still be available, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I remember and enjoyed a documentary about the find a few years ago. Thanks Witzend, I look out for for the film.
