I was there a few years ago Casdon, just after it was opened to the public after having fallen into disrepair, I think.

It does look like a really interesting place to visit, I’ve put it on my bucket list. Must admit I hadn’t heard of the work done there before.

Thoroughly enjoyed the programme.

I knew that The King was into heritage crafts, impressed that he has his own barn on his Scottish Estate and takes a keen interest in the young people learning skills in order that they are not lost.

I think it was filmed in March/April this year.

Yes shysal he did keep touching Charles. Surely he must have had “instructions” prior to filming.
The pretend tea in named mugs was also …daft.

I enjoyed it, but I can’t watch the Repair Shop now without seeing the French and Saunders parody with Judi Dench.

Kirsten, who repaired the Wemyss ware pot is amazing I think, she is so talented at what she does, and seems to have infinite patience. You could see how pleased she was to be able to work on such a rare item, and she did a fantastic job of it. Charles looked genuinely amazed when he saw it.

Charles is definitely growing on me me too Whitewavemark . I really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it but couldn't help cringing at how touchy-feely Jay was, also forgetting his correct title. HRH didn't seem to mind though. The restorations were superb as always.

Steve Fletchers brother and sister are on the show too

Maybe not as heartwarming in the usual way- but then I think for Jay Blades and his team this episode was a one off to really focus on perpetuating those heritage skills.A passion Charles shares.So whilst not as emotional I found it wonderfully optimistic to see the enthusiasm of the craftspeople of the future.Lovely to see Steve's son. We know a local horological who repaired a much loved clock of ours,an old man now with no-one to pass his skills to.
So to me it doesn't detract that the King has old objects galore.At least he is passionate about preserving them and I'm pleased the other reviews I've read more warmly acknowledge that.

The review I read pointed out that Charles, unlike the regular customers of the Repair Shop, was not emotionally connected to the objects repaired, and surely one of the nice things about the programme is the memories the objects contain. It’s lovely to see the happiness and tears people show when they see the restored beloved object. That’s the whole appeal of the programme. OK Charles has houses stuffed with old objects, and having him on was a coup for the programme, but it wasn’t as heart warming as seeing the everyday repairs.

DH and I loved it.He did some mentoring with young students as part of the Princes Trust and it's wonderful to see how vocational opportunities are opened up to them through it.And heart-warming to see how skills at Dumfries House are being nutured.I then read some reviews online and the Guardian one had a scathing undertone.How sad to be cynical about such a lovely collaboration .

It was great to see these talented persons working away at crafts which are dying out I’m a followers of the king and he doesn’t get enough recognition for the work he promotes. Bloody brilliant in my view

Oooh I’ve got it recorded - something to look forward to. I had a feeling it would be good. Charles is definitely growing on me.

It was an absolute treat. I enjoyed seeing the workshops at Dumfries House and the skill of the young crafts people.

I liked the fact that they were all so keen on apprenticeships and that the Prince's Trust is helping young people achieve their ambitions too.

The items they restored tonight were wonderful and how lovely it was to see Steve Fletcher and his son working together, passing on the expertise through generations.

I really enjoyed it, everyone was so relaxed.

I think your Aunt might be correct, it was in the newspapers a while ago, but I dont remember what the objects were.
