Which series do you binge watch for comfort ?

Just realised that this week I have watched all the episodes of Dinnerladies again. Somehow I find it comforting and love watching Victoria Wood as Brenda with Julie Walters as her mum. It's not challenging and has a feel good message.
Wondered whether anyone else has a go to tv or film series when you feel a bit low ?

Another Stargate SG1 fan here. Just rewatched whole series and really enjoyed it 3rd time round! Also recently rewatched The West Wing. Another well made, well scripted series that developed characters throughout.

Gavin and Stacey for me, Dot singing the Smiths is a classic moment, but I just love it all, it’s so sharply observed.

Well, exactly!

Oh yes The West Wing every time. It helps me forget trump was ever elected.

Love the Sopranos and most Scandi noir series. Also Spiral and the Medici.

Dads Army I always watched with my late fil,
Only Fools and horses,
Open all hours,
Any Blackadder'
Acorn antiques,
Poldark,'
The jewel in the Crown,
The last two I have also read the books at least twice.
Friends I watched when dd's were at home and it still makes me laugh.

I don't, I hate the TV, and rarely watch, although my DH turns it on at 8.15 and off whenever he goes to bed. If I'm down I find a good book and hide in a corner.

Mostly Korean dramas on Netflix. Crash Landing on You is a delicious romance with beautiful people and an interesting insight to a different, rapidly evolving culture.

Oh I forgot I love the new updated series of All Creatires Great and Small. It was a favourite of my late mom's too when it was originally shown

Shinamae Sun 30-Oct-22 12:41:57

Doc Martin…

Absolutely fabulous

I frequently play the Mama Mia 1 film when I am low. It always lifts me.

I'm not a massive TV watcher however I do have all the NCIS box series and have binged watched that in the past.

The years of Tony and Ziva are my favourite. Ofcourse, series 17 too, when Ziva returns from the dead to play out the storyline left up in the air from season 13 when Tony leaves as did Ziva in series 11.

800 Words
Doc Martin
Call the Midwife
Motherland

Call the midwife.
I know it can be a bit depressing at times but reminds me of growing up in the 60s when life was harder, but seemed so much simpler then.

Daisydaisydaisy Sun 30-Oct-22 12:35:04

I absolutely love The walking Dead🙂

Modompodom Sun 30-Oct-22 12:32:21

I love A Place to Call Home.
Also a Spanish series called Gran Hotel. I could watch it over and over again. I have the dvd box sets of both.
I have just finished watching The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem on Netflix. I really enjoyed it.

Another vote for Dinner Ladies and Gavin & Stacey - anything that makes me laugh basically.

CrazyMazy Sun 30-Oct-22 12:24:53

A Place to Call Home - a winner for DH and me. I could watch it over and over again!
Doc Martin also a winner. Looking forward to binge watching and catching up on episodes I have previously missed and the Christmas Special!
Interesting thread-lots of good ideas for binge watching as we hunker down for winter!

Westcoaster Sun 30-Oct-22 12:23:43

It took me quite a while to get into watching tv after DH died as he was generally the one with his finger on the remote for his endless footie.

Now that the dark winter nights are here I’ll watch the latest Virgin River, and maybe rewatch The Killing. I’ve just started (re) watching Cracker on the ITV hub.

SparklyGrandma Sun 30-Oct-22 12:16:38

Chesnut it’s on BritBox Upstairs Downstairs….

I don't watch anything twice......at the moment I'm watching 'Women Who Kill' and 'A Handmaid's Tale' Not exactly comforting viewing but it takes me out of my world for an hour at a time :-)

Aveline Sun 30-Oct-22 12:11:18

I'm so enjoying 'Ever Decreasing Circles' on BBC i player.
