Which series do you binge watch for comfort ?

Just realised that this week I have watched all the episodes of Dinnerladies again. Somehow I find it comforting and love watching Victoria Wood as Brenda with Julie Walters as her mum. It's not challenging and has a feel good message.
Wondered whether anyone else has a go to tv or film series when you feel a bit low ?

I couldn’t sleep last night and started rewatching Villages by the Sea and realised there were some episodes that I’d missed. It’s so fascinating and informative eg I had no idea where Flamborough Head was. I’’d’ e guessed SE not Yorkshire. So many places in the U.K. that I haven’t been to and so much history. Find it very relaxing.

I have many more box sets, I have been buying at least one set a year for a long time. I love all of them, so cosy

I stashed them all into logic storage cases and they are neatly stacked in my living room. Did not have room to keep them in original cases

I could never get enough of The Sopranos. It's become a tradition that I watch it once every year. The quotes, the characters, the plot, oh, everything is great! I could go on for a week. Binge-watching the whole 86 episodes gives me huge comfort.

Recently binge-watched The Detectorists. I initially didn't think a series about metal detecting would be particularly interesting but I loved it and ended up watching all 3 series. A lovely, gentle, beautifully written programme.

My daughter and I both enjoyed My Kitchen Rules, an amateur couples cooking show in Australia. The couples aren't always married couples, they can be parent child, just friends etc. Lots of series to binge watch.

Any of Ben Fogles seriesI particularly enjoyed the one where people up sticks and move to far off lands later in lfe, there was a wee Glasgow woman in her late 60's maybe older running a restaurant at the top of a mountain in south America (I THINK) .or his Scottish islands ones that make me want to jump ship leave the worries behind and live a contemplative life.
I never would because of family health problems ,but I can dream .
My OH laughs at me ,I'm a city girl, the country usually makes me feel very uncomfortable who knows whats crawling in the grass.lol

Loved Shtisel on Netflix (or Shitsel as I called it in the beginning..)
Beauty Queen of Jerusalem, Poldark, but get bored with the mine stuff, Dubai Bling for when I feel like trashy tv.
Brideshead Redecorated.
Thanks for the tips gransnetters, will look them up.

Hope you will like Fauda, Grannmarie. We watched Spy and loved it. We are now watching The Sandbaggers because of this list.

Luckygirl3 Mon 28-Nov-22 08:24:38

A Touch of Frost, Vera, Foyle's War - all with great characterization.

Grannmarie Mon 28-Nov-22 00:41:03

Hi, mom3, thanks for the recommendation, I'm going to watch Fauda.
If you like Israeli spy dramas, you might enjoy Spy on Netflix. All the more poignant as it is based on real events. Sacha Baron Cohen stars, he has come a long way from AliG!

eazybee Sun 27-Nov-22 11:39:44

Just Good Friends, Dear John, Tenko (when I can bear it), Pride and Prejudice, and likewise, wall -to- wall Foyle.

NanKate Sun 27-Nov-22 07:00:23

At present I am watching wall to wall Foyle’s War.

I will binge watch anythng with a long complex saga and lots of characters. My latest is a series called "Industry" which is about the trading floor of a merchant bank. I love anything about business and finance.

I have also binge watched:-

Game of Thrones
The Tudors
Downton Abbey
The Handmaids Tale
Vikings
Foundation
Gentleman Jack
Suits

and many more so I think you can see a trend.

Mom3 Sun 27-Nov-22 00:52:19

We liked Fauda. It's an Israeli spy drama. Sex and violence, but very good.

Mom3 Sun 27-Nov-22 00:38:39

So glad to see Still Game mentioned! We watched the whole series fairly recently and are now rewatching it. Daughter heard about it from her friend and told us about it. I love it.
