I'm a celebrity

I can’t see another thread so apologies if there is
After years of not bothering with “I m a celebrity get me out of here” I decided to have a look as I like Boy George
And I have to say I m in now so will need to keep watching this ridiculously daft programme even if it’s just to combat the depressing days
Anyway what do you all think ?

Callistemon21 Wed 16-Nov-22 15:00:49

I'm beginning to realise why we've rarely watched it before!

Callistemon21 Wed 16-Nov-22 15:04:29

Oh no Smikeless I’ll keep on watching. Just fed up of the Matt Hancock hate fest.

It's amazing that poor decisions made during the pandemic were all the fault of Boris Johnson, now it appears that Matt Hancock was the sole decision-maker.

it was a collective responsibility government
After taking advice from medical officers, scientists and other advisers.

Smileless2012 Wed 16-Nov-22 15:29:16

Precisely Callistemon. People seem to forget that the government was being guided by medical and scientific experts who were also learning as they went along.

As a virgin I'm a Celeb.... watcher I can see why I never watched it before, it's getting boringly the same, and 1hr every night is a lot of time to devote to it. I will never watch it again. I just wanted to see the interplay between MH and the others, but even that is beginning to wind down. I want to see Moyles and George do some nasty things and then for it to hurry up and end!

Joseanne Wed 16-Nov-22 16:09:07

I have no idea how I got into it, but I am a seasoned watcher of I'm a Celeb! Probably goes along with being a dimwit. A boy I taught at A level 10 years ago went on to work on the show, and his younger brother I later taught used to tell me all about the set up.

I think a lot of the format is based on the blame game, especially blaming people for not winning stars, though of course that hasn't happened this time due to Matt's remarkable achievements. Instead, the other contestants blame him for all the poor decisions made during covid, as do many members of the public. The trouble is, blaming makes it much harder to communicate with Matt and difficult to work with him, so the nasty stuff sets in, like Charlene not sleeping in the RV with him and Boy George not peeling the potatoes.
Having said that, I now think viewers have had a chance to rethink this, especially from a human point of view, and although I don't think Matt will win, he has gained credibility and won't be first out.

* washing not peeling the potatoes

OnwardandUpward Wed 16-Nov-22 16:19:15

Yes, I also want to see George and Moyles do some nasty things. An hour is a long time. Last night was tedious. I don't think anyone in there is that likeable or interesting, but current favourites are Jill and Owen.

Chestnut Wed 16-Nov-22 16:22:39

Are the winners chosen because of their achievements and team spirit in camp or just because they are nice, harmless folk? Genuine question because I don't know.

Joseanne Wed 16-Nov-22 16:26:35

If Moyles doesn't do well and doesn't win the stars, then it will be interesting to see how the favourites Jill and Owen react because they are probably hungry people, (using up more energy than some of the lazy contestants). If they can still remain pleasant then they are onto a winner. That's where it gets interesting.

Aveline Wed 16-Nov-22 16:26:55

Sometimes people just like them. Usually the winners are nice likeable straightforward people.

Joseanne Wed 16-Nov-22 16:28:53

X post Chestnut.
That's the question. A bit of both really but sometimes an overriding feeling of hunger turns them against each other and the flare ups kick off.

Joseanne Wed 16-Nov-22 16:30:44

I have a DS who gets really grumpy if he hasn't eaten. I keep out of the way!

crazyH Wed 16-Nov-22 16:30:58

Chestnut - as far as I know, it’s an elimination process, based on public votes

Curlywhirly Wed 16-Nov-22 16:36:04

I think Chris Moyles got it right when he (grudgingly) said that he thinks there are 2 Matt Hancocks - Matt Hancock the MP (who isn't very well liked) and Matt Hancock in the jungle - who seems to be quite nice. Who knows what he's really like? But there's no denying he's very resilient and hasn't had a bad word to say about anyone (neither has Baba, Jill or Scarlette to their credit). I think Jill might win it - such a good sport and an all-round nice lady.

Curlywhirly Wed 16-Nov-22 16:38:10

Oh, forgot Owen, he too hasn't had a bad word to say about anyone!

Jaylou Wed 16-Nov-22 16:41:18

I think at the end of the day "nice" will win. and the final 4 tend to be 4 likeable people.
My thoughts for the final 4 would be Mike, Jill, Owen and Baba or possibly Sue. The others have shown their other faces and the voting public will out them.

maddyone Wed 16-Nov-22 16:44:49

Joseanne

I have a DS who gets really grumpy if he hasn't eaten. I keep out of the way!

So do I.

I always knew when he was hungry as a child because he got really grumpy.

Joseanne Wed 16-Nov-22 16:47:00

For those who are new to this, when they come out one by one they have a chat with Ant and Dec about their time in there. It is usually quite revealing, especially their answer to the question, "And who would you like to see win?"

maddyone Wed 16-Nov-22 16:48:39

Scarlett (not sure of spelling) could make the final four. I’m disappointed with Sue. She can be nice but she can also stick the knife in.

Galaxy Wed 16-Nov-22 16:55:20

I know this isnt relevant but I think Scarlett is stunning.

maddyone Wed 16-Nov-22 16:59:34

So do I Galaxy. She’s absolutely gorgeous and with a lovely nature too.

Galaxy Wed 16-Nov-22 17:38:23

Its shallow of me but I find beauty on this show really interesting, because they arent really relying on make up etc.

Smileless2012 Wed 16-Nov-22 17:54:51

hmm well if nice wins I'm not sure about Mike and Sue Jaylou, especially Sue who is still talking about 'the elephant in the room' behind Matt's back, despite saying while she was giving Matt a hug that a line needed to be drawn.

Galaxy Wed 16-Nov-22 17:56:16

I have watched it since first series and nice does tend to win. Not always but usually. Someone like Jill would be obvious for a winner.

MissAdventure Wed 16-Nov-22 20:45:23

Does anyone think Matt will win?
