I have no idea how I got into it, but I am a seasoned watcher of I'm a Celeb! Probably goes along with being a dimwit. A boy I taught at A level 10 years ago went on to work on the show, and his younger brother I later taught used to tell me all about the set up.
I think a lot of the format is based on the blame game, especially blaming people for not winning stars, though of course that hasn't happened this time due to Matt's remarkable achievements. Instead, the other contestants blame him for all the poor decisions made during covid, as do many members of the public. The trouble is, blaming makes it much harder to communicate with Matt and difficult to work with him, so the nasty stuff sets in, like Charlene not sleeping in the RV with him and Boy George not peeling the potatoes.
Having said that, I now think viewers have had a chance to rethink this, especially from a human point of view, and although I don't think Matt will win, he has gained credibility and won't be first out.
