I can’t see another thread so apologies if there is
After years of not bothering with “I m a celebrity get me out of here” I decided to have a look as I like Boy George
And I have to say I m in now so will need to keep watching this ridiculously daft programme even if it’s just to combat the depressing days
Anyway what do you all think ?

I think Matt is OK, but he shows no emotion at all, which seems unusual in those circumstances. I think that's why BG is frustrated feeling that some people aren't being "themselves" but maybe that's what MH is like all the time IRL? Or maybe he's playing the game by keeping schtum and doing things to wind others up, like leaving the shaving water, to present them as loose cannons for reacting, while he remains impeccably behaved and unemotional, just responding calmly and unemotionally?

Only time will tell I suppose... what's really going on in there.

Galaxy Sun 20-Nov-22 10:17:46

It's not being petty to challenge people about leaving a mess for others to clean up. It's perfectly normal behaviour.

Either he's like that in real life (worrying if someone is emotionless and was in that kind of position of power) or we're just not seeing the real Matt at all and he might suddenly explode or break down. Perhaps he has a long fuse.

I'm beginning to wonder if these types of reality show should be banned.

I'm liking Scott better now.

No I mean that Sue got upset (reasonably) but his reaction made out she was being unreasonable (when she wasnt) I think he gaslit her as in saying basically why are you talking to me about this, you could have just emptied it out.

I think MH is unreasonable to leave his dirty water. I think Sue is justifiably upset, but MH's calm exterior in all situations leads me to suspect he is deliberately trying to push buttons in others. He's already been told once and he knows its anti social, but he doesnt care.

I might be tempted to pour it over his head.

I think Owen’s lovely too. He’s obviously struggling with the lack of food but bearing up. I hope he stays in and, at least, gets to the final.

OnwardandUpward Sun 20-Nov-22 10:27:16

Yes perhaps Matt has a long fuse. Or perhaps he is "crazy making" and has a good poker face because he is determined to win.

I think people will see through this as it's not being a team player. It's not kind or nice to leave a disgusting mess for others so that their justifiable emotional reaction is ridiculed by him.

Yes poor Owen! He needs feeding!

Galaxy Sun 20-Nov-22 10:35:23

I think owen and Jill will be in top 3.

I meant Owen
Duh!!

Sparklefizz Sun 20-Nov-22 10:40:36

Remember it's very much edited, and also the producers tell the celebs to say/do certain things to create situations.... like throwing a pebble into a pond to create ripples. If they were all just sitting around smiling, no one would bother to watch. It's completely contrived.....

Callistemon21 Sun 20-Nov-22 10:42:05

Yes.

OnwardandUpward Sun 20-Nov-22 10:45:59

Matt should have been apologetic for leaving his shaving water. He was not. Does he think it is a womans job (or someone else's job) to " just empty it out" ? He is an intelligent man. He knows what he is doing (and I think he wanted to provoke a negative reaction)

His attitude does point to crazy making behaviour, but I hope I'm wrong because no one needs those kind of Psychological head games. Maybe it IS the show producers telling him to do that. In which case, the whole show seems machiavellian.

Joseanne Sun 20-Nov-22 10:49:59

I agree it's all contrived, but it does accentuate peoples' flaws without their realising.

Joseanne Sun 20-Nov-22 11:00:29

From the little chats we've seen, I think the two learning most from the experience are Sean and Owen, and maybe Baba. They will hopefully go on to be better people. On the other hand, there's half a dozen far too arrogant to notice or change, and dare I say it, it is the older ones.

Grannynannywanny Sun 20-Nov-22 11:12:10

I was disappointed in Sue, Jill and Matt when they returned from the beach BBQ feast and then ate from the evening meal rations. They should have done the decent thing and left that evening’s food to their very hungry camp mates. Matt even had the nerve to say if there were any leftovers he’d have them.

He was rather selfish/greedy again last night when they sat down to eat their rations. One of them was looking for their share of the bones and realised Matt had 2 in his dish while some had none and he hadn’t thought to share until he was prompted.

Yes, Matt has been outstanding in his trials but some of his behaviour such as the shaving water incidents and his selfish attitude to the food rations suggest he’s not a team player. I suspect he’s used to being treated as no 1.

tickingbird Sun 20-Nov-22 11:15:35

I didn’t think they did eat any of the camp food after the beach bbq hence Matt asking for any leftovers? Agree should have been full to the brim and as Owen said “if there’s any leftovers I want them”.

Grannynannywanny Sun 20-Nov-22 11:25:20

Oh I must have misread that scene tickingbird. I thought all 3 of them ate again when they came back. I was sitting here watching and berating the 3 of them unjustly then!

rafichagran Sun 20-Nov-22 11:35:42

Sean has been a slow burner for me. I really wanted him to be the first out, but I am warming to him now.

Smileless2012 Sun 20-Nov-22 11:45:36

I think Matt asking Sue why she just didn't empty the bowl was a sign that the nastiness and back biting is beginning to get to him a little, and why wouldn't it.

As for not showing emotion, he did show emotion with Charlene when he said he was wanting forgiveness and how was that responded too by his fellow camp mates? They said, behind his back of course, that they didn't think he was being sincere.

It would be awful if he broke down Callistemon, or if any of them did but I wouldn't be adverse to seeing him explode; might do some of them a bit of goodhmm.

maddyone Sun 20-Nov-22 11:57:27

I like Matt. It must be quite hard for him in there because no one appears to like him, not because of himself, but because of what he represents, the Conservatives. Perhaps they need to have a look at their own behaviours.
To win, I think Owen or Scarlette.
I haven’t noticed any interactions between Jill and Matt and I wonder why. She seems a nice person but she’s avoiding interacting with the one who is being bullied by the others. I hate bullying, even more so from adults.

OnwardandUpward Sun 20-Nov-22 12:04:46

We don't know because of the show's editing. We are being shown what ITV want us to see, rather than how it really is.
I think in order for it to feel "real", they would have to show a lot more than one hour a day.
Big brother is a lot more Real and even that is edited to death.

OnwardandUpward Sun 20-Nov-22 12:05:34

I would like to know what they are doing for the other 23 hours of the day. I feel it is a totally fake situation.

Millie22 Sun 20-Nov-22 12:08:47

I feel the older ones have all behaved badly and are responsible for varying degrees of bullying.

The younger ones particularly Scarlett Jill and Owen are all lovely.

Joseanne Sun 20-Nov-22 12:34:17

If the young girl, Olivia?, had stayed, we might have seen different dynamics.

Galaxy Sun 20-Nov-22 12:59:45

Did they give any details of that. Many people have left celebrity, and their leaving is as far as I remember always shown in the programme. That didnt happen this time. Sorry I am being a bit nosey.
