I can’t see another thread so apologies if there is
After years of not bothering with “I m a celebrity get me out of here” I decided to have a look as I like Boy George
And I have to say I m in now so will need to keep watching this ridiculously daft programme even if it’s just to combat the depressing days
Anyway what do you all think ?

Zoejory Tue 08-Nov-22 08:32:23

They wouldn't even exist if it weren't for IACGMOOH

They are UK bred and after the tasks they are retrieved and sent off to safe places. Not sure where, I'll have to google.

Many years ago I was living on a small farm in Spain. Millions and millions of cockroaches came out to party at night. They didn't live solitary lives, they were all clambering all over each other. It's pretty natural for them to muck in together. They don't feel pain as we do nor do they think as we do. The floor of the cow shed was a bed of cockroaches at night. I appreciate this time in my life as I am not remotely scared of them now!

ITV Studios uses a ‘specialist licensed animal company’ throughout the programme’s run

The company has extensive and detailed experience of all animals that are featured and working with animals in film and television,’ its procedural document reads

The broadcaster also asserts that the animals used are commercially bred in the UK and would ‘normally be purchased by zoos and pet stores to feed birds and exotic animals

So they survive the programme and get eaten by birds.

‘Not intentionally’. Yes, many must be hurt or killed.
They certainly aren’t treated without cruelty.
Animals should not be seen as ‘revolting’ and terrifying’.
If they were fluffy bunny wunnies involved in harmful challenges folk would be outraged.
Just leave the poor little buggers alone!

Zoejory Tue 08-Nov-22 08:04:54

They aren't killed in the tasks. Not intentionally. The insects not the contestants. Of course some animals are killed for the food and eating trials but that happens everywhere

I loathe the way that the creatures are treated.
Not so much the revolting eating challenges; but more the squealing and histrionics and cruelty of pouring wee beasties over people etc.
George won’t be involved in the eating things as he is a vegan.
I’m hoping that they have dialled down the anti-animal sentiment.
It always makes me stop watching it.

Me too. (Going by the odd trailer, have never watched it).

I find the "well, they're only maggots/cockroaches/spiders etc" attitude chilling. Cruelty to living creatures is cruelty, regardless of the size and/or cuddlability of said creature.

Jill is one of our lionnesses Bluebelle, Mike was brilliant rapping and looks like a team player...think George and Chris did well in that tight space filled with water, I was panicking for them!
Could be Olivia pregnant that would explain why she can't go back.

Sara1954 Tue 08-Nov-22 06:14:27

Doesn’t take long does it?
Chris started getting on my nerves, and my granddaughter has taken a huge dislike to George, who of course she had never heard of.
But the others seem like a nice bunch of people, I dares say we’ll see the worst of them before long

I would never normally watch this, but the jungle does seem like a welcome distraction from the worries of the real world. And I can always fast-forward the trials which I'm not keen on.

Matt Hancock hasn't arrived yet, and I believe Seann Walsh is also coming. They are hoping he will talk about his Strictly snog behind the bike shed, because it's the only thing he's famous for.

Kate1949 Mon 07-Nov-22 23:40:19

Too many being exempted. Ridiculous. Why go in? Oh yes the money.

Curlywhirly Mon 07-Nov-22 22:54:06

I also wonder why three of them were exempt from the trial. Also, didn't the last VIP duo (George and Chrystal(?) miss out on doing an initial trial? The 1st VIPs (Chris and Olivia) had to do parachute jumps, unless I missed something, the other 2 VIPs did nothing!

merlotgran Mon 07-Nov-22 22:33:38

No wonder Mike Tindall is popular in the RF. He must be a lot of fun.

BlueBelle Mon 07-Nov-22 22:32:07

Jill Scott who d I d never heard of looks so unnourished I know she’s a sports woman
No lexisgranny I don’t watch any of the others you quote either
I wonder why those three were exempt from the trial? Not much point if half of them can’t do the trials

MissAdventure Mon 07-Nov-22 22:18:09

I don't know who most of them are, because that gets stripped away, layer by layer.

Or not, as the case may be.

Galaxy

I love Jill Scott.

Coq au vin (as in tin!) 😃

Lexisgranny Mon 07-Nov-22 22:11:42

I recognised 5 names from the list of celebrities this year. Have only ever watched it once (I think it was the second edition).

If I decided to watch, I would have to record it and be able to fast forward most of it, for example I really do think that Ant and Dec’s ‘cheeky chappies’ routine is wearing very thin now. On the whole it’s not for me, but there again I don’t watch Love Island, Big Brother (is that still on?), The Only Way is………., and that Housewives thing and the ‘talent’ shows. Maybe old age is really creeping up on me, but it wouldn’t do for everyone to like the same things.

Mike Tindall rapping! How good was that?!

It was brilliant lixy. Well impressed.
Made me feel very old though as never heard of it before!

Chris Moyles. shock

Galaxy Mon 07-Nov-22 21:59:49

I have always loved Celebrity, but never as much as last year, it was the moment I realised Boris Johnson was finished. I could have kissed Ant and Dec.

MissAdventure Mon 07-Nov-22 21:53:58

Yes, he was very calm.
I like to think I might be ok ish at reaching past creatures to get things.

BlueBelle Mon 07-Nov-22 21:49:45

I admire how Boy George managed to zone out as that water climbed up his face I d have totally panicked Chris only just made it he was getting a bit panicky He just made it

Anyone else notice Olivia give her belly a little rub when they stood in the sand ??

Yes, right at the start.

MissAdventure Mon 07-Nov-22 21:40:02

I missed that.
smile
So much for working out what's what.

Zoejory Mon 07-Nov-22 21:35:33

I saw Olivia with her tummy rub. Grom reports it does appear she was devastated to leave.
