I’ve just read that Jonnie Irwin from Place in the Sun and Escape to the Country was diagnosed with Terminal Lung Cancer 2 yrs ago. He’s 48 and has 2 small children how terribly sad and shocking. I enjoy him in Escape to the Country so much.
I do hope he gets some time to enjoy being with his family for a good long time yet.

Yes I've just read that this evening. I like watching him in A Place in the Sun.
Such sad news.

Yes, it’s sad …

Apparently he was diagnosed in 2020 but the cancer has now spread to his brain. Very sad, his children are only 2 (twins) & 3. He has been told he only has 6 months to live.

That’s sad, I ve never heard of the man myself but always sad for a young person with small children My son in law was the same age my grandkids were 4 and 6 😥

Oh how awful. I do watch those programmes sometimes and he is so nice. I'm so sorry and can only hope that he and his family are receiving very good and kind care.

Oh no!!! How dreadful, such a lovely man too. I really enjoy ETTC when he presents the program. His poor wife and children😪😪😪. Such a cruel illness.

Sparklefizz Mon 14-Nov-22 07:43:17

I was shocked to read that this morning. He seemed to have been undergoing cancer treatment when I saw him on a recent Escape to the Country but I'd thought he was recovering. I always enjoyed seeing him. How awful for him and his family.

No I wasn’t aware of this and I am shocked by that news. I’ve always enjoyed watching him on A place in the sun. A cruel disease indeed.

I am not a hater, but boy do I hate cancer.

Charleygirl5 Mon 14-Nov-22 10:20:15

I have always enjoyed watching the programme and he appears to be such a pleasant young man. Life is so cruel at times.

Glorianny Mon 14-Nov-22 10:20:19

That's so sad. I've watched the programmes. So sorry for his family.

Joane123 Mon 14-Nov-22 11:06:16

How sad.

Heard this last night and it really upset me. So young and it’s just so cruel. My heart goes out to his family.

Such sad news,I like watching the programmes Johnny Irwin presents. Tragic for his young family and wife too.

Joseanne Mon 14-Nov-22 13:02:13

That's tragic.
He is such a likeable presenter.

Alioop Mon 14-Nov-22 15:12:11

I was so sad to hear this news, such a nice guy and so young. My heart breaks for his poor family. Cancer is horrible, such a hateful disease.

TwiceAsNice Mon 14-Nov-22 15:51:01

I read it this morning it’s so sad that his children will grow up without him. He’s such a likeable enthusiastic presenter on Escape to the Country, one of my favourites. I hope he gets as much time as possible with his family

Allsorts Mon 14-Nov-22 18:10:51

Extremely sad, I feel for him and his family. Not right that some horrible people live so long and other lovely people die so young. I hate cancer.

TerriBull Mon 14-Nov-22 19:03:23

I was vaguely aware of who he is but on seeing his picture with a very young family, I was very moved. How sad, life is so unfair at times.
