I've seen it countless times but not for some time now.Today I've had our granddaughter unexpectedly as both her parents are ill.And we've cuddled up together to watch this .She was spellbound by all the period details.Plus it was filmed near where we live.Just got a big smile on my face.Just hope I don't get the bug !

I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen it from beginning to end. But I still cry at the end. Today was no exception. It’s so much part of the nations psyche. I remember years ago being on a train that had stopped because of cattle on the line and everyone was talking about The Railway Children and discussing what we should be doing or which article of our clothing we should be waving.

A definite family favourite when our daughter was young. Incredible Journey was another favourite. Thankfully our duaghter was young before the films like Sponge bob square pants which in IMO are complete rubbish!

Do you remember Walkabout with Jenny Agutter? I think my Mum thought it would be a lovely film seeing as Jenny was starring. Not quite what she expected.

There was a good series on BBC4 about the Australian film industry and I think Walkabout was the start of it. Quite controversial at the time but a true classic and very groundbreaking. It was a brave decision of Jenny Agutters to be in it but one that paid off. Just as Australian films rejuvenated Terence Stamp’s career by doing something left field.
