So, will Mick turn up?

And Jeanine has finally got her comeuppance!

One could say that Shakesperian actors are 'one trick ponies' as they play the same type of rôles all the time.

Savon de Marseille - soap- brilliant.

Doodledog Tue 27-Dec-22 17:33:04

I don't think soap actors are necessary 'one trick ponies' at all. If they are long-standing they have to cover more emotions than anyone in a long-running play does repeating the same script for a couple of hours a night. Soap actors do everything once and move on, often with three episodes a week. Also, long-standing viewers will remember their character's past, so know that they are insecure because of having a philandering father or an alcoholic mother, etc, and will pick up on inconsistencies that the characters carry with them for years.

He’s probably reached France now.
That's it, yes! He'll definitely get a part in that soap set in Marseille I think where there have been 54 murders, riots, a ghost, rapes, kidnappings etc to name but a few things. His Enders experience will stand him in good stead.

Christmas is for miracles, as was Micks rescue bid, Linda and Janine managed to survive the cliff drop into the deep sea, emerging with all their clothes dry and pressed and shoes on. Overweight Mick, coped with his Olympian cliff dive, and swimming ability put young fit men to shame, still had the energy to swim out to sea against the tide. He’s probably reached France now.

Who are these people??

No idea really, but they kind of pay a visit to my TV lounge 4 times a week!

Fleurpepper Tue 27-Dec-22 14:38:36

LOL, don't worry about it ;)

If you don't watch EE, you won't know. I don't watch any other soaps, so wouldn't have a clue? that's ok ;)

Oh no, 😲 😮 not the pony word, used by Hackney born DDyer to mean something else!! (I'm an East London girl too).

Actually I'm sure I read or heard that Dyer has had parts in several Pinter plays on stage.

sodapop Tue 27-Dec-22 12:56:39

I agree Galaxy Danny Dyer is a bad actor but he was suited to the Eastenders role. I think like many actors in the soaps he is a one trick pony.

aonk Tue 27-Dec-22 11:37:08

I think Alfie has been brought back because Mick will be out of the picture. Eastenders has always had some sociable and jokey characters to counter all the tragic storylines.

Aveline Tue 27-Dec-22 11:24:57

I like him too. It won't be the same without him.
I can see Alfie moving in to the Vic...

henetha Tue 27-Dec-22 11:23:42

Oooooo noooo.. He's lovely! grin

Galaxy Tue 27-Dec-22 09:43:02

I don't really understand the whole Danny Dyer thing, I think he is a terrible actor.

SkyBird Tue 27-Dec-22 09:41:02

I think that the BBC have left the door open in case Danny Dyer decides to return. They haven't killed him off. In England it takes seven years to list a missing person as deceased without a body.

Joseanne Tue 27-Dec-22 09:29:14

Oh I hadn't thought of that sodapop. I wonder how long it takes? My father drowned in the sea in Perth, but the body was quickly found and the inheritance dealt with.

sodapop Tue 27-Dec-22 08:42:40

Janine won't be able to inherit anything unless Mick's body is found or he is declared dead which takes some time I think.
Janine really did act her socks off I agree Aveline, not the outcome I was expecting at all.

kittylester Mon 26-Dec-22 21:12:32

Janine was arrested tonight.

Presumably she will inherit Mick's half and, therefore, be Linda's partner.

Joseanne Mon 26-Dec-22 20:54:53

I'm guessing all these Christmas specials have an end goal in mind and work back from there to make the story?

Aveline Mon 26-Dec-22 20:51:35

The Christmas day episode was pretty stressful particularly after watching the sickly 'Call the Midwife.'

Doodledog Mon 26-Dec-22 20:48:48

Joseanne

If they conveniently can't find Mick's body, then he could always come back 5 or 6 years later. It leaves it open fir him to return.
It's the Lola story that I fear will have a sad definitive conclusion.

I think that Danny Dyer said he was pleased they had left it open for him to come back one day when he's got himself sorted out.

The consensus seemed to be that Janine was going to jail - has that gone by the board now? I didn't understand why they had to chase her - the police had been called and they'd have her registration number.

Fleurpepper Mon 26-Dec-22 20:39:16

Ah clever!

yes, poor Lola.

Honestly, I think Mick will turn up. Shall we take bets?

kittylester Mon 26-Dec-22 20:31:45

I think Linda owns half The Vic as Mick was going to buy her out (and vice versa) but presumably Janine will inherit Mick's half.

It's a shame Linda's dress survived!

Fleurpepper Mon 26-Dec-22 20:29:56

Not sure Joseanne- but 'our' secret is out lol ;)
