I'm watching - are you?

A Fair Go!

Callistemon21 Thu 29-Dec-22 17:45:02

Well, she speaks posh, but her language and dress are bogan, as she calls it.

I do like her voice if not always what she says! 😁

She's Australian.

Well .... yes. So are lots of British people not born there.
But she's still a Pom

Crikey.

She's been Australian for 10 years. That's how it works down there.

Callistemon21 Thu 29-Dec-22 17:59:18

You keep telling me how Australia works.
🤔

Sorry, I forgot you lived in very British Adelaide for a couple of years.

You have to be tough to survive in some areas out bush, no good being too terribly British there.

At least I know that somebody who gets Australian citizenship is actually entitled to call themselves Australian without somebody implicitly thinking, "but where are you really from?"

I like her voice, too. Private education and Cambridge, so her education is quite posh. I think she is very intelligent.

Or saying "You a bloody Pom?"

The way you answer is key to being accepted out bush.

I like her voice, too
I could listen to her voice all evening - her potty-mouth doesn't shock me as long as she doesn't keep referring to her lavatory problems 😀

Jane71 Thu 29-Dec-22 19:58:35

I can't stand her, so don't watch her.

Zoejory Thu 29-Dec-22 20:52:00

She zoomed up in my estimation when I heard what she'd said about The Crown.

Callistemon21 Thu 29-Dec-22 21:05:21

Off to check!

Callistemon21 Thu 29-Dec-22 21:08:10

I agree with her.

HannahLoisLuke Sat 31-Dec-22 11:32:03

I rather like her. Potty mouth doesn’t bother me but her farting, belching and eating raw onions would make sure I kept my distance. I don’t think her manners are great.

I'm afraid until recently I was a fan of miriam marigolys. That is until my family, 3 grandchildren, my daughter, son in law and a couple of friends with children were seated in a restaurant . The children all were perfectly behaved as they had been taught to be. In walked Miriam Marigolys with a group. The children recognised her from the Harry Potter film and were very excited. She took one look at them and declared to the waiter," I must move tables,I can't stand children " . At that my granddaughter said " but that's Professor Sprout doesn't she like us ? " I promise you, they were all perfectly behaved. How not to win future fans.

Used to like Miriam, but she now plays on her Foul Mouth and expletives and does it for attention-- so, no, not a fan any more, Oh and don't waste your money on her book!!!

How not to win future fans.

She's 80 and probably doesn't care.

ClaraB Sat 31-Dec-22 11:53:09

I won’t be watching, I really don’t like her and find her very coarse at times.

She probably doesn’t, but manners and politeness cost nothing…

NanaPlenty Sat 31-Dec-22 12:09:41

I loved it. She can be rather outspoken at times but on the other side of that isn’t she just being honest about what she thinks? It was interesting - I don’t think she could make it ‘more in depth’ because the programme time doesn’t allow for that. I completely understand why some people don’t like some of the things she says but if you can see past that I believe she’s very interesting and also very interested in others.

CazB Sat 31-Dec-22 12:24:06

I find her very crude so didn't watch. I do admit she's a great actress though.

Zoejory Sat 31-Dec-22 12:27:13

It must be awful to go out for a meal to have people staring at you all the time. Rushing you for selfies and autographs. Even when being polite. The famous miss out on privacy I suppose. All part of being famous.

One of the Gallagher brothers was in a restaurant in Ibiza, and the other patrons all burst into the song. Wonderwall. Not sure he was totally happy about it.

Not the easiest song to sing along to.

Crystal46 Sat 31-Dec-22 12:31:29

I mostly like her plain speak, and usually agree with her. Not so DH. But whatever, we both adore her Flora in Little Dorrit.

essjay Sat 31-Dec-22 12:43:56

another one here who can't stomach her

Sasta Sat 31-Dec-22 13:17:35

Really liked her for years but won’t watch her now since seeing that Marigold Hotel prog years ago. So pushy and not nice to the lovely Rosemary Shrager, put me right off.

Sparklefizz Sat 31-Dec-22 13:25:07

I won't be watching. I really don't like her. She behaves like a 10 year old boy who has just discovered bodily functions and lavatory jokes. It's become her gimmick and it's pathetic in my view.

LovelyLady Sat 31-Dec-22 14:22:33

She’s a good actress and I do think all this rude potty inappropriate language is attention seeking from a decent actress. I find her rude and inappropriate always trying to shock. Such a pity.
