Anyone watching? Very grim, but compelling as always. Last ever series too.

I'm hoping it's not going to be our Catherine's funeral.

I have been busy thinking what the £2100 (and something and 6p) will be spent on!

Iam64 Mon 23-Jan-23 21:49:43

The beautiful building that was Bolton Magistrates Court is used a lot. It was the police station in Ridley (the not very good police drama with Adrian Dunbar)

Is Tommy going to kidnap/believe Ryan will go with him

Well ladies, did anyone spot the weird thing about the escape scene? I'm really looking at YOU if you come from Bolton or Leeds.👇

No, I wouldn't have realised but a viewer said this in your link:
Tommy Lee Royce entering a newsagent in Bolton and exiting in Leeds

The return of Mr Benn 😃

The ‘happy’ in the title refers to the drug use that goes on there lixy.

Oh, thank you - that's solved that little puzzle.
I'm looking forward to catching up with the series later in the year,

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 23-Jan-23 16:45:27

I thought the same, HousePlantQueen - I wonder if Faisal was so keen to swap details so that if asked, there'd be a legitimate reason for having each other's numbers on their phones.

HousePlantQueen Mon 23-Jan-23 15:45:55

Ohmother

Yep. The not phoning the school to check was a basic mistake for Sarah I’m afraid. Still loving this fantastic series though!

I thought that, but the train that Ryan was catching was the 08:33 to York, via Leeds (what a nerd I am), so the register wouldn't have been called by then, although Catherine should have checked at around 09:30 ish. Now we know what all the press ups in the prison cell were about don't we! When the PE teacher hit the back of the pharmacist's car, for one awful moment I thought the boot was going to swing open and reveal the wife's body.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 23-Jan-23 15:42:49

I didn't notice but if we don't know the area we aren't to know, are we? On Mumsnet it's been said that he entered the shop in broad daylight and cycled off in the dark - so it took him five hours (even with his slim frame) to struggle into the Lycra!

What will PE teacher do now? Phone the police, hide the body? And where will TLR ride off to?

He’s also nastier than he looks / the way he stood up to the pe teacher

DH said "perhaps he's scared now they've bumped cars because he's got a body in the boot"
No, he wasn't that daft.

Washerwoman Mon 23-Jan-23 14:04:34

I can forgive any implausability in the script of HV for the strength of the characters and the acting. Those two cafe scenes between Catherine and Clare were so good the whole series deserves BAFTAs for those alone.

oodles Mon 23-Jan-23 13:54:33

The pharmacist might not have had to be strong, the garage was downstairs after all, but what a lot of tidying up he had to do for no one to notice what had happened. Teacher had not got his fingerprints all over the case, he obviously suspected something, but what he suspected was that it was a case his wife had got together to leave him. But he knew she hadn't taken her charger, so knew something was up.

Callistemon21 Mon 23-Jan-23 10:49:14

The misper officer wasn’t conducting a proper search of the house Callistemon, so there’s no reason he’d open that suitcase. I hope the crazy pe teacher dials 999 to tell them , rather than try and ditch the body
No, he was just checking to find out what she'd taken or anything unusual but I kept thinking - lift the suitcase!

The chemist must be stronger than he looks.

Naaa, she would have hot-footed it to Leeds and brought Tommy down in the street with a rugby tackle!

😁

Calendargirl Mon 23-Jan-23 10:37:29

I think Catherine will have to sit on Tommy to keep him in check!
Catherine is so bundled up in her police uniform, all the paraphernalia she has to wear, and even in civies it’s all coats, scarves etc.
If it came to a chase, no contest.

Chestnut Mon 23-Jan-23 10:36:10

Just to add, the courtroom scene last night reminded me of the interview room in Line of Duty when 'Dot' Cottan broke out and escaped. Remember that? It was equally unexpected and exciting. Guns blazing and glass shattering in the interview room!

Chestnut Mon 23-Jan-23 10:24:47

Calendargirl Never mind Tommy in his Lycra, I was more impressed with his fitness levels! The way he leapt up and out of the dock, after decking the guard, racing out of the building shouting ‘Police!’ (I think), then sprinting down numerous streets before dashing into shop, stripping off and pedalling away.

Absolutely! It was a jaw-dropping moment, everything went his way. Even the doors locking after he'd exited the building. Amazing bit of filming. And his fitness levels were astonishing. I'll bet he's been in training for that. I'm not sure how Catherine will deal with a face-to-face with Tommy. She may have a bit of weight behind her but he is much fitter and faster!

volver Mon 23-Jan-23 09:21:52

What difference would it have made if Catherine had rung the school?

She would have hot-footed it to Leeds and Tommy Lee would have escaped anyway.

glammanana Mon 23-Jan-23 09:17:50

I found myself shouting at Catherine on TV to ring the school and check if Ryan had arrived, how sad am I.

eazybee Mon 23-Jan-23 09:17:46

I missed last night's episode because of traffic delays but safely recorded for viewing today. Now spoilt.
Headline in the Telegraph's tv review told all:
'Sally Wainwright kept us all on our toes .... . ......... ......!'

Why do copy editors do this? Is it to upstage the writer?

Iam64 Mon 23-Jan-23 08:47:13

Doodledog - no the series isn’t based on books. Sally Wainwright is a brilliant script writer.

lixy, the valley where Hebden Bridge is located was known as hippy valley in the 60’s. I had friends who bought up a row of stone terraced houses as they went up for sale over a number of years. Communal living

Will Ryan save his grannie from a murderous Tommy?

I'm just wondering what is going to happen to the school teacher. I think Tommy might go for him. He asked Ryan for his name.
