Anyone watching? Very grim, but compelling as always. Last ever series too.

Superb. So clever ,how all the loose ends got tied up.Sally Wainwright is a grnous. And the acting was just phenomenal.I've a feeling we will see 'our Ryan' in plenty of other productions to come !I usually hate violent scenes but HV has been do gripping throughout I have been able to cope.

It didn’t disappoint.

Brilliant ending. Brilliant series. Fabulous acting, so sorry it's finished.

Zoejory Sun 05-Feb-23 22:38:21

It was excellent.

It was brilliant. I cried. Loved the baring of souls between Catherine and Tommy. And her relief over Ryan ‘just a lovely, normal lad’. A perfect episode which surpassed my hopes.

Yes, I didn't know what to expect but it was perfect, just right.

I'm exhausted now.

Catherine walked calmly out having solved most of West Yorkshire’s serious crimes - class act!

It showed Grans in a great light.
Good job Winnie was keeping an eye out and the little girls will be cared for by their grans. Just hope they can coax the youngest out of her coat.

I was pleased with the ending, how all the separate threads were tied up... but it wasn't quite what I expected.
I was hoping that the dodgy teacher would be jailed for murder, and I thought that Catherine and her family would be in real danger from TLR.
The brutal attacks on the gangsters in the car reminded us what TLR was capable of.
Excellent drama altogether.

The ending was very very satisfying, properly wrapped up

Wow
Gripping, terrifying and great relationships
Best of all, good triumphed over evil

Wow! Brilliant ending

Every good thing has to end,but I will be sorry too. Hope its a corker of a finish ( one way or the other) and not like the disappointing end of the brilliant Line of Duty.

Delila Sat 04-Feb-23 18:07:22

….yet don’t want it to end.

bevisp1 Sat 04-Feb-23 16:48:51

Looking forward to the grand finale …..

Just had a thought!!!!
Has no-one made Catherine Cawood and Tommy Lee Royce knitted dolls? Remember the Line of Duty dolls? They were wonderful. And someone has made a Vera doll too.

I suspect it's a bit late to start now, but I'm amazed there aren't any.

Ey oop ladies, I think I'll settle down in front of t'telly with a flask of hot tea - or maybe something a bit stronger.

James Norton has said that we mustn't blink.

Just one more sleep to go.

Doodledog Sat 04-Feb-23 00:41:02

It didn’t really need attention. It was advertised as the story of Noelle Gordon’s leaving and going back to Crossroads- and that’s all that happened 😀.

It was ok - I watched it all - but not a patch on Happy Valley (in my opinion anyway).

Chestnut Sat 04-Feb-23 00:21:54

Oh correction then, Nolly is on itvX as it is now. Cleaning cupboards, maybe you weren't giving it due attention? I haven't started it yet but am hoping to get into the period as I remember watching Crossroads after school. Loved it!

Doodledog Sat 04-Feb-23 00:15:46

I thought Nolly was disappointing. I binged it on ITVx whilst sorting out cupboards. I don't know what I expected really, but it was very slow. It was well acted, but nothing really happened.

It’s the best tv we’ve had since line of duty

Really? I'm enjoying Atlantic Crossing on Drama, Nolly on Netflix and Hotel Portofino on ITV. None are about serial killers of course, but there's plenty of good drama to watch there.

Doodledog Fri 03-Feb-23 22:44:17

Agreed!

I am planning a binge of all three series when this one ends, so I can pick up on all the nuances as they happen with the benefit of hindsight. I always did that at the end of a series of LOD, too.

Oh, plenty of people. Look at the Krays, or all the men in jail who have women queueing up to ‘save’ them from themselves. Some get married on Death Row, having committed unspeakable murders.

It wouldn’t suit me, but a lot of people like the feeling of being ‘protected’ and the associated power that goes with criminality and thuggishness.
