Absolutely delighted to catch this again on BBC4. Gentle, warm, really funny, highly entertaining. Social observation.

I love this series. Sooo funny. We've got the DVD's

Another reason I love it is because it doesn’t feel rushed or repetitive.

“Do you like circuses? “
“Crime can’t crack itself.”
I love the one liners and the two policemen have me in stitches as well as the grandma with the whistling inhaler.
So many funny characters.

I live in Manchester and in my 20s went in a few pubs like the one in "Early Doors" in fact I knew some family members of John Henshaws family and this is so very true to live comedy and very well observed.

Really good! There are only 2 episodes on iPlayer, though?

They are putting them on iPlayer after the BBC4 repeats. 2 more episodes on Saturday.

I'm so glad smoking was banned in pubs. I was coughing just watching.

Saw the stage version about 3 years ago...absolute comic genius!

Listen out too for the call sign that comes through just as Phil and Nige are leaving- always spells out a rude word. Tango Whisky Alpha Tango anyone ? grin

“No thank you!!! I’ll stay on me own.” 🤣. The tight old bloke whose always up for a freebie. 🤣. We knew a female version of this. Went on days out but wouldn’t buy herself a cuppa. She died very rich and her son benefitted from all that money 🙄

I’ve never heard of it. But I lived in Manchester (Eccles) in my early twenties so I think I need to watch it!

Thank you for the recommendation. I hadn't heard of the programme before. I will watch it on iplayer. smile

Pittcity Sun 15-Jan-23 14:55:53
