9pm-10.35 harry talks to tom bradby.

just putting it out there..... you don't have to watch! I don't care.

"Concern" implies racism on the part of the person "concerned". That is not what Harry is saying in his latest interview, and it is not what the average family member means when they wonder whether a baby will be tall like his father and inherit his mother's curls.

The reference to his skin has been attributed to Princess Anne, a very sensible and inteeligent woman, who doesn't seem to me to be likely to be "concerned" about the exact shade of the skin of a baby in the family.

So Meghan told Oprah what had been said and Oprah may or may not have used the word racist (I haven't watched it, after all...)

Can you affix the clip where Meghan or Harry said the RF were racist? Actual Meghan? Or actual Harry? Not Oprah, or some reporter who decided to ask William if he was racist.

Can you? (No, is the answer...)

They accepted a Kennedy award last month for highlighting racism within the Royal Family.

Yet he denied on film in front of Tom Bradby last night that the RF were racist.

How do you square that one volver

Just watching lunchtime news on BBC. H’s allegation that Camilla had become close to the press as part of her change of image, and that this had led to stories being planted, was discussed. It was pointed out that H’s claim that she had briefed the press about her first meeting with William was untrue - her private secretary had mentioned it to someone, who then told someone else, and the PS was so mortified that he was the source that he resigned. Slurs against Camilla will not endear him to Charles.

Been known to do that myself, nasty, rude old pedant that I am.

GN is good for baring one’s soul volver - you obviously find it therapeutic smile

The most blatant lie coming from H&M was on the Oprah interview when they allowed her to gasp and comment on the colour of the baby to be and to shake her head over such a racist remark.
Now H has rowed back on that and said there is no racism in the RF.
People aren’t stupid and will now doubt the truth of anything they both say.

I haven't watched the Oprah thing and I haven't watched last night's interview either.

What Meghan said was "There was some concern about how dark the baby's skin would be" and she nodded agreement when Oprah picked that up and ran with it.

How much is Tom Brady getting paid for all this rubbish coming out of Harry’s mouth?

Iam64 Mon 09-Jan-23 13:18:18

Harry alleges that members of his family briefed the press against his wife, then against both of them. He appears to be open about his views, rather than briefing through royal correspondents and favoured journalists.

So, according to him, rather than a dignified silence, it’s Shakespearean level plotting and scheming

I believe he’d have been well advised to avoid public war with his family. I also agree with those who ‘diagnose’ ptsd.

Harry is a very troubled soul and my heart goes out to him. I think his family should say and do something helpful, instead of ignoring him.

Everything they do and say will be used against them.

Even if he doesnt turn on them in the first instance, nothing to say he wont do in 10 or 20 years time.

Every word they utter or dont utter, everything they do or dont do. Everything that shows in their face. Just everything.

That's why the only path to peace would be living a quiet life and keeping yourself to yourself.

So innumerable people on here spouting forth about what Meghan really wanted and how Harry feels, with no more knowledge than what they read in the press, or make up in their rather biased minds. But somebody who states an actual fact gets told that they can't possibly know that.

WellsRose, sorry to say this but its nice to have the Gransnet Eye of Sauron pointed at somebody other than me for a change. smile

Glad to be of service, sorry my dyslexia causes problems with the accuracy of my posts.

Just to be clear here, I wasn't quibbling about your spelling or anything like that - I genuinely couldn't think what you meant by 'Compared to Cost'. Sometimes, as others have said, if it's down to autocorrect or something, it's pretty obvious what a poster actually meant to write, but on this occasion, it wasn't. I was simply seeking clarification, not having a go...

Fleurpepper Mon 09-Jan-23 12:59:07

I remember Oprah being very 'surprised/shocked' when Meghan said some members of the RF had wondered what shade or colour the baby would be. Nowhere, if I remember correctly, were accusations of racism directly made.

I remember this bit- because although we are all 'white' - we have many family members from the near and distant past who were mixed race, from many different parts of the world. We jokingly warned SIL and DD1 when they announced they were expecting- that they should be prepared for a surprise, just in case. As it happens, GCs are all typical Anglo-Irish- but anything could have happened.

Same for H & M.

Oreo Mon 09-Jan-23 12:58:13

They don’t do that volver
What they actually do is insinuate and then don’t correct the interviewer in any way.
What they could have said in the interview with Oprah, if they had to say anything at all, is that a member of the family had asked the question about the baby to be but it wasn’t a racist question, as everybody in an inter-racial marriage wonders who the baby will take after.Which is true.
They allowed Oprah to do a staged gasp and say ‘What?!!!’ Whilst shaking her head.
They are very clever in what they say usually, although Harry on his own is sometimes the opposite.

Perhaps he can blame his confusion about racism on PTSD?

The thing is, he is looking publically for accountability from a RF who don't do things publically. So either he has lost touch with how his family operate or he's not thinking straight.

What about his accountability? Or are we supposed to excuse him for everything because of his MH? So it's "everyone's fault but mine" syndrome?

He has said things that will stand and that is precisely why you think before you speak.

fancythat Mon 09-Jan-23 12:54:18

What he doesnt seem to get is what is normal.

It is normal that each family has spats.

It is normal that not everything is aired.

It is normal for there to be some forgiveness.

It is normal that several people may think something about another member. Not much of which is aired generally.

It is normal to have a certain level of tolerance for others in the family group.

fancythat Mon 09-Jan-23 12:51:49

lixy

I don't understand his claim that the whole world is looking for accountability and answers.

People in my world are looking for a bit of hush from him. We are sorry for him, particularly because his therapy doesn't seem to be doing much for him, and wish him a happy and peaceful life. We are not looking for anything.

This means in that case, that it is he that is looking for accountability and answers.

I do wonder with his back peddling on racism now, that he found some answers for that.
And all the rest of his newist outpourings, he is looking for "accountability and answers" on that too. Which is why there is such a great outpouring.

My daughter is dyslexic (quite badly) and uses the dictation feature in Word. I still get to proofread important things for her, as she just can't see when it has misinterpreted what she's said, sometimes with hilarious results. It happens mostly when she dictates people's names and the software tries to convert them to words or phrases, but she really can't see it when she reads it back herself.

volver Mon 09-Jan-23 12:44:54

I tend to pick up on people's spelling when they use a word that doesn't mean what they think it does or they are trying to show how clever they are and get it all wrong.

Been known to do that myself, nasty, rude old pedant that I am.

We can all do it, post without checking.

Still think Nashua and Eugene was funny, though. 😂

Sorry if that offended you, (perhaps I laugh at things others might not).

No it's fine honest. And I particularly feel bad for talking about Nashua and Eugenegrin

The Palace refuses to reveal who they are

😂😂😂

Oreo Mon 09-Jan-23 12:39:13

Yeah there’s a difference between not knowing how to spell a word or dyslexia or autocorrect and picking up somebody on a spelling and excusing yourself for being a pedant, the latter one just being plain rude.
I use preview message for most of the time, only takes a second or two, and probably should use it every time.

OnwardandUpward Mon 09-Jan-23 12:37:37

I'm truly sorry for Harry's PTSD, CPTSD and any other traumas.

BUT

I still don't agree with public laundry and that applies to anyone in the RF. It would have been much better spoken about with mediation, in private. With the best intentions, but very ill advised, he has managed to put his family and himself in danger with some very unfortunate things that should not be public knowledge.
