I just find the whole concept of speculation about the miscarriage and burial of the foetus wrong, and Harry giving his truth about what happened doesn’t make it okay for people who actually know nothing about what happened to put their spin on it and question what he said - , as my mum would say, two wrongs don’t make a right.

as my mum would say, two wrongs don’t make a right.

Casdon I can hear my mother saying the same thing about this whole spectacle!

As well as "Least said, soonest mended".

No Volver it is not right that someone should suggest Doris went to prison if she didn’t. I would imagine they could be sued for slander or even defamation of character. Similarly a lot of what Harry said and wrote is demonstrably untrue.

If someone states something is a fact then it can be called out. A fact is a fact as I keep saying.

There is a lot on here about Harry claiming to have buried his miscarried baby under a Banyan tree. We cannot know if this is true and therefore a fact or not. For all I know it is true. It can be claimed it can’t have been a Banyan tree as you couldn’t dig under it, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t bury the poor wee foetus. Maybe it wasn’t a Banyan tree and maybe he used a stainless steel spade but that doesn’t disprove the rest of the story.

Indeed, merlotgran. It’s the person who put such deeply personal information out there in the first place who should be ashamed.

And I am still somewhat shocked at other people's personal information that Harry put in his book, eg. William's and Charles'. If it were the other way round, he would be "lawyering up" as they say in the US.

... and sharing private text messages that have been hung on to for 3+ years.... for what purpose I would ask? Clearly all part of The Plan.

No Volver, if others post something daft, in your opinion might I add, then unless they state it is a fact it is just an opinion. If they state it’s a fact then it can be proven or disproven. Simples.

Do you think that people should be posting opinions about things that are actually factual?

For instance, should people suggest on a TV channel that someone went to prison when they demonstrably didn't?

That’s fine Volver, but what they are saying are not facts. Do you believe everything you read in the left wing press?

No. I'm not a "believe", I'm a "sorter out of truth". (That makes me sound like a Guardian of the Galaxy. 🤣)

But some people certainly believe everything they read about "certain royals" if it fits their preconceptions.

Volver it’s up to you to prove if there is a Flying Spaghetti Monster if you are claiming it is a fact. Are you?

No, wait. What?

I can post something daft but I have to prove it. But others post something daft and I have to disprove it?

😕

volver Wed 11-Jan-23 11:36:52

Well obviously 25Avalon.

But if a media outlet is renowned for having a very right wing view and allow people to spout absolute rubbish as a matter of course, then its probity must be doubted.

Lots of people have checked prison records.

Guess what they found?

And no, I'm not posting proof because this discussion is disgusting. Accusing a woman of being a criminal for some reason, without any backup at all. Other than saying "oh, she could be."

I thought I read in her very flowery way that she lost the foetus at home.
Not everyone goes to hospital with a miscarriage.
She said something along the lines of “ as I was putting my first born to bed I was aware of my second child draining from my body”
Not verbatim but the sense is there.
They could then have buried it in the garden.
As someone else said it would have to be very deep.
When I had my baby at home the midwife told my H to burn the placenta as burying it would have every dog for miles around rushing to dig it up.

I also thought Meghan miscarried at home after reading her account of what happened.

I had my second baby at home and the people in the cottage down the road said they guessed I’d just had it when they spotted DH getting a bonfire going with a can of petrol! 😂

Those were the days!

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 11-Jan-23 11:33:24

Yes, I’m sure he would Sparklefizz. I’m as shocked as you. He knows, though, that the RF won’t take legal action and relies on that.

OK then. You can prove facts.

Proof that Doria was in prison?

Proof that she's a drug dealer?

Proof please, not someone just saying it in the media.

If not facts repudiate them by showing they are wrong.
You've got that the wrong way round. Nobody can just say something random then ask someone else to prove its wrong.

I can say that there is a flying spaghetti monster. Show me that's wrong.

Yes Volver you can prove facts.

You can check if Doris was in prison or not. There will be a record.

If it is claimed she was a drug dealer and there is no proof then it is an allegation or hearsay, not a fact.

I do not like someone saying a fact is not a fact because the originator is far right wing or even far left wing. If it is a fact it is a fact.

Smileless2012 Wed 11-Jan-23 11:32:23

Yes Sparklefizz what does other peoples personal information have to do with H's memoirs unless of course he was traumatised when he saw/found out that his father practices yoga in his underwear.

Callistemon21 Wed 11-Jan-23 11:31:38

All those speculating and questioning the burial of a foetus should be deeply ashamed of themselves. Ask yourself if you would have the same discussions about a dead baby, and then remember that, although it never drew breath, this was for a young couple a much wanted child

Absolutely not, it would be deeply private.

You have turned this about, Glorianny, surely it is not those who are discussing this who are the ones to be ashamed? Once this has been put into the public domain (and for profit too) then it is out there for anyone to comment on.

The comments would seem to infer that this should have been kept as a private matter between the couple and not something to share with the world, if indeed it was true. I believe it was but I am quite shocked that they would want to reveal it.

Smileless2012 Wed 11-Jan-23 11:30:39

No shame here. He's made it public so it's being discussed. Having experienced a miscarriage I know what a dreadful thing it is and as I've said, it's the digging with his bare hands to bury the baby they lost that I find hard to believe.

Both Meghan's parents filed (at different times) for bankruptcy. It is likely that she went to live with her father because her mother couldn't afford to keep her.

I’m not ashamed because if somebody puts deeply personal information in the public domain they will be expecting comments - especially when they are earning millions out of revealing their sadness.

Speculation is unkind, whatever the subject.

GB News Fanny With Dan Wooton.

Must be true. They wouldn't make things up.

OK, that in itself tarnishes the 'evidence'. That site of extreme-right wing, alternative facts.

Facts are facts full stop. You can’t have alternative facts, right or left wing. This shows deep prejudice on the part of the poster. If they are facts accept them regardless of the originator. If not facts repudiate them by showing they are wrong.
