He was great, First with the Yardbirds and then living on to become one of the world's legendary guitarists. I'm another who remembered Hi Ho Silver Lining from my early teens, and it still sounds pretty damn good.

Performing quite recently too.

I remember him from the Yardbirds. I heard a recording of him on Classic FM playing “Nessum Dorma” this morning. Very beautiful. RIP.

I remember him from the Yardbirds onwards. A sad loss. Apparently he was still touring and died from meningitis. At least not a long, slow death.

Heroes in so many forms. But also great friends, slowly but surely.

He looked amazing for his age and was still touring. Must have been a great shock RIP Jeff

He was only 78 but caught bacterial meningitis so it was sudden and a shock. He was still touring so was presumably fit and active until then.

Apparently he didn't really want to sing Silver Lining; he was such a brilliant guitarist.

Another fan of Jeff Beck here and shocked by his death as he looked so fit for his age. Haven’t listened to him for a while now but I did like his album There and Back from 1980.

One of the villagers where he lived described him as 'A really nice bloke.'. Apparently he used to potter around the Co-op. My husband said 'We all.end up pottering around the Co-op'!
