I’ve just started watching it ( binge watched 4 episodes last night) . I was a huge Game of Thrones fan until series 8 ruined it for me and I haven’t been able to rewatch it since (I used to watch each series several times, always finding something new in it). It seems to be lacking the humour that GOT’s had but it is growing on me. I wondered if any other GOT’s fans had watched it. I know there are dragons in it but I’m missing white walkers and dire wolves…

A different slant on things...you get to know a few characters whereas GOT was a much wider storyline. It took me a couple of episodes to get it but the dragons won me over and Matt Smith plays a fab role.

Annoyingly my tv is very small and when they speak Valyrian I can’t read the subtitles so I missed a few bits of the plot last night. I used to like watching GOT’s with the commentaries turned on as well and they’d discuss lighting, costumes and locations etc. I’ve got to get used to this being on a much smaller scale.

Very disappointed.

In GOT there were plenty of natural roles for darker skinned actors in the characters of the Free Cities, etc which were understood to be situated in hotter climates. In "Dragons" they have simply dumped a lot of badly made white wigs (many of which look like candy floss) on some black people to be "inclusive". They look grotesque. Makes as much sense as claiming that Anne Boleyn was black.

The best characters are the dragons.

I’ve had to Wikipedia the plot so far as they jumped 10 years and I couldn’t work out who was who. I am getting a bit of a GOT’s fix because of the music but the main difference is I don’t care about any of the characters. In GOT’s, no matter how evil some of the characters were I still had a fondness for them and they had character curves eg The Hound. And I can’t see me having any ‘I didn’t see that coming ‘ moments.

It grew on me and got better when they jumped forward a few years and the princess reached adulthood. I think the actress who portrayed her was very good. It actually made more sense of the rushed ending to GOT’s and I may now be able to rewatch some of it.

I absolutely loved it and can't wait for the next season! GoT is one of my favourite series ever (along with Breaking Bad), but I'm now obsessed with HoTD too!

I hated the end of GOT’s, I felt it was a complete character assassination. But it was good to hear the music again and be back in that world.

I binge watched it in the end. Currently rewatching from the beginning. The trouble is I have to wait for the DVD’s to come out and I’m getting to an age where I fear that I might not be around in several years time! Mind you, I used to worry about that with Lord of the Rings films! At least with HOTD I’m watching something hat I know is an adaptation of a finished series of books so I know how the journey is going to end. I don’t really like the actress who plays the young Raynearagh(sp) though: I don’t know why. I think she was just chosen for her resemblance to the adult actress, not for her acting ability.

It was interesting watching the bonus features on the dvd because they likened dragons to nuclear weapons in that people were scared to oppose you if you had them but, if you did have to use them you just end up destroying everything. Which then makes more sense of what happened in GOT’s, the ending of which would have made sense if it had been done properly and not rushed.

if you liked the universe of the original series, you will like this series. The actors are brilliant, the landscapes, the music by Ramin Djawadi, the special effects,... What happiness for me!
