I wouldn’t know who started their career in a soap I’m afraid but agree Sarah Lancashire is a very good actress.

Gosh. I can’t really top that! I still haven’t watched Happy Valley ( I need to watch the previous seasons) but I’ve seen Guy Pearce in lots of films and he’s brilliant. I’ll have a ponder…

Well I don't actually watch soaps now but I did watch both Neighbours when it was new and dipped in out and out of Corrie from time to time until I shelved it altogether. I remember them both, I don't think either of them stood out then in their respective roles.

Anne Reid. Of course. Comedy and drama! Peter Noone started off in Coronation Street but of course went on to pursue a very successful music career (and still performing I believe).

You actually start your career with three years intensive training. To work on a soap requires really high levels of skill. It is not that you work up from being on a soap- being on a soap is as hard as it gets.

I know it was from a soap to a comedy series but who would have thought that after Coronation Street Arthur Lowe would go on to become such a great comic actor in Dad’s Army

Jenna Coleman (Queen Victoria) was in Emmerdale
Ben Hardy - Bohemian Rhapsody - was in Eastenders

Heath Ledger appeared in Home And Away and would be my nomination for best actor for his role in Brokeback Mountain.
