Got it taped.

I guess it was made when they were married?

I loved the scene when Harriet and Simon Boulderstone (Rupert Graves) climbed the pyramid.

Richard Holmes score is beautiful.

As many times as I have watched that scene with Yakimov it always makes me sad. He became more likeable in Athens. His wry comments over the awful Pinkrose make me smile.

Onwards to the Levant next Thursday.

I still remember the very last scene with them at the pyramids. In some ways I miss the days when I had to look forward to seeing the next episode. Isn’t the music wonderful! My all time favourite was Love for Lydia.

Thank you so much MayBee. I think we like the same things!

I've been looking forward to this streaming again as it's hard to find on DVD.

I read Olivia Manning's Balkan and Levant trilogies years ago. Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson were perfectly cast as the young Pringles plus I was very fond of the now late Ronald Pickup as Prince Yakimov and even Alan Bennett as the awful Lord Pinkrose.

Is being repeated on BBC4. I loved this series first time round and, having only seen the first few minutes of it I think I’m going to be loving it all over again.
