What advert makes you want to throw something at the telly?

There are so many. I particularly cringe at the one for Our Time dating for over 50s. I just want to punch the two simpering actors! Grrrrrr
Also, car adverts like Peugeot who think they’ll sell cars by speaking in a silly French accent.
I must be getting old!

The virgin tv engineer - who didn’t fix the tv- said that Virgin are now issuing a new box but it has no recording facility on it as no one records any more!

I think that they are ignoring anyone over 50.

We also record shows with adverts to zip past them. Consequently, I haven’t a clue about any advert at all.

We have the Sky equivalent, no recording facility.

You can add a programme/series to your favourites which means it’s quicker to stream

Ionis - nice, nice, nice NOT!!
I’m surprised that the McDonalds raised eyebrows ad doesn’t annoy me but it doesn’t

Ridiculous dancing on ads seems to have taken over - Wren kitchens, webuyanycar, a house selling service and don’t get me started on the young man who loves going into work for Reed on a Monday!
Stuck in the house this week through illness and it’s really hit me how many ads there are for over 50’s life insurance, cremation/burials and bingo sites - often back to back.
Of course the fact these ads irritate us, proves they’ve our attention, positive or otherwise.

No one in my family can stand the holiday ad where a woman throws her flip flop at a sunbather and, worse of all, a boy laughs at a little girl who drops her ice cream. It certainly doesn't make me want to book one of their holidays! hmm

I agree Free the blood stained pad advert is inappropriate and just plain yucky.

I hate to admit it but I rather like the Johnny Depp adverts.

The ad about having a lift and moving a vacuum cleaner 'Hurry up, they're here'?
Definitely 'My lot know how to party' showing a room containing 6 people!
Daisy Daisy Daisy!
Isn't the Omaze ad meant to grate to make it memorable?

Freespirit55 Wed 15-Feb-23 06:35:31

I’m there with you, we don’t need blood stained pads to know what we need to wear. I find it offensive not helpful even though I’m through the period stage of life

No-one records any more? Eek, I watch very little live TV, almost all my viewing is recorded. I'd be lost!!

Ads: There is a new one recently that involves a large Bell crashing through walls and someone dru ming their feet on it. Don't know what it's for. It is SO badly done. Gnash.

Omaze - don’t like it at all.

Oh yes, that woman annoys the hell out of me with her big cheesy false smile and irritating voice! 😬

The one which is some kind of raffle for a house, is that the one called Omaze?
The woman's voice drives me crackers, I have to mute her.

I'd never buy a ticket because the advert is so awful.

They all do, which is why I record most programmes and fast forward the ads!

Me too!

Same here ! I record everything that has adverts so can fast forward them so don’t have to see or listen to them .

Don't know if you get it UK wide but there is one for the 3 hotel group in Pitlochry, in which the voice over woman refers to "Pitlokry" as being 'in the heart of Skatland". It makes me shout at the TV every time. angry

Forsythia Tue 14-Feb-23 22:09:36

Daisy plus We’ll buy any car. I mute them.

the women sitting on the loo telling us about pads

This one. A step too far! And ads showing women exercising, and no pad showing .
Thankfully they didn't have these when I was young. I would have been so embarrassed watching telly with my boyfriend.

Witzend Tue 14-Feb-23 22:06:05

The car selling or buying one, can’t remember which, with the bloke with the black hair and beard who looks like Beelzebub and can’t say his Ts. ‘You’re in the driving seat now, Bri’ain!’
Ugh.

Daisy, daisy, daisy. Perfect, Perfect, Perfect. That Marc Jacobs has a lot to answer for .

Juliet27 Tue 14-Feb-23 21:25:10

The woman’s annoying smiley face on the Jane Plan ad.

Millie22 Tue 14-Feb-23 21:23:04

That silly holiday ad with the Christmas music and an awful boy with an ice cream.

Just terrible.

Tweedle24 Tue 14-Feb-23 21:17:30

Shinamae and lixy, How I agree with you about that madly irritating Daisy, Daisy advert! Were I in the market for a different perfume, that stupid ad would put me off! Hardly a recommendation for the designers of the ad.
