Yes I watched it too and was very moved . It explained so much about the variety of autistic minds and the difficulties experienced by those struggling with the condition.

Such a good programme. I was reminded of all the times I asked DH why he seemed to find everyday life so difficult. His mother went through life as if she was doing everything with the help of an instruction manual. She knew what to do but she never quite understood why she had to do things. It took the diagnosis of our first autistic grandson to make it all become clear.

Yes I watched too as I wax interested because an adult family member has recently been diagnosed with autism. I hope it helps me better understand when things are awkward. It was interesting and moving.

Have it recorded , will watch tomorrow. We too have an adult family member recently diognosed, so this watch will help us understand.

I believe Ken Bruce's son is on this programme . I have recorded it but not seen it yet. We used to be the only baby sitters for a friend's autistic child and we are still fond of him. Happy to say he is grown up he lives alone and has a job of sorts .If he did not do as I asked I only had to say " mummy said bed at 8 pm " then he would go like a lamb.

I was interested because my grandson (14 next week) is “high functioning autistic”. He is very good at ‘masking’, and does well at school. I recognised some things in the programme.

When I was a young child in the 1940s, I had a friend whose small brother (about six years old) did not speak at all, although he seemed normal in other ways. Looking back, he was probably autistic, though I never heard the word then.

Thank you for this, BlueBelle. I like Chris Packham and am very interested in understanding more about autism, as so many people are affected, so will be watching.

A very informative programme. Our friends' daughter is very similar to Ken Bruce's son, although she does speak.

A young friend with a non verbal autistic 3 year old told me about this programme. I found it very moving to watch, particularly as I’ve 2 granddaughters aged 20 and 14 who were diagnosed autistic at 17 and 13 respectively. I was particularly interested in the young woman talking about “masking”, how exhausting that must be. What a tough life these young people have, anything that raises awareness and promotes better understanding is a good thing.

I have recently read Ken Bruce's autobiography . In it he talks about all the problems they had with Murray including his trying to run off . He also said that Murray does not feel or show much pain but had a bad accident at nursery where he was in a lot of pain and said " I want my mummy " . He had never spoken before or since.

Just watched this on catch up. Very moving and informative. Well worth watching

I didnt see the program in what capacity was Packham involved?.

Chris Packham presented it and travelled to meet autistic people with the aim of eventually making a small film about their lives. Being autistic himself he understood their problems.

Just watched this weeks episode, I am so impressed with Chris Packham’s presentation and the two guys featured.

Being autistic should not be something to be ashamed of, hopefully this series will go someways to help people to understand.

After experiencing my friend's autistic child and meltdowns I think twice when I see a child kicking off in a shop and Ibrecognise the poor child probably has no control of the situation .
