I do like a trip down memory lane, whilst perusing BBC IPlayer the other day, I found "Up the Junction" first screened as a play in 1965, I decided to watch it. Written by Nell Dunn and very controversial at the time featuring the after aftermath of an abortion still a couple of years before that became legal. It also reflected the awful casual racism and sexism of that era. Nevertheless, can't help thinking the dialogue didn't really ring true to my ears, insomuch as the conversations just came across as incredibly overdone in a one dimensional way revolving entirely around the pursuit and moans and groans about the opposite sex. Leaving me with a "did people really only talk about just the one thing!"
