Who else saw that coming between Rob and Emma today?

I think the BBC is 'fiddling' with everything and not for the better.

I am sorry Karen has gone, so soon after Valerie. I don't care for Kirsty , her husband or very her wet son, and as for the new doctor and her son, well!. And who is responsible for the deeply embarrassing character change of Luca since he returned from his holidays?
Is all this yet another BBC renovation to attract a younger audience?

Cheers Marydoll.

Beechnut

And Jimmy’s first wife. I can’t remember her name.

Amanda Clay (played by Emma Samms) in late 2005.

Franbern, thank you for the summary, I was trying to find out what had happened. I hadn't watched it for a while.

I'm sorry to say, that I never really took to Karen, she irritated me somewhat. blush

I think Scarlett is much better now she has less to worry about.
I've been finding it hard to take to Kirsty, she seems very abrasive.
I'm afraid if Wendi Peters is staying I won't be watching.
Remember Christopher Timothy as Matt McGuire? Diane Keen as Julia Parsons.
Memories.....

Kirsty's accent is dreadful.

I'm a fan of Doctors as well and liked Karen's character, the episode was very moving, Rob's denial was so well done .
I really can't take to Kirsty & family, their acting seems very wooden. Wendi Peters is also unbelievable. Not sure I will watch much more now Valerie & Karen are gone.

Franbern thank you so much for writing a detailed summary of Karen's storyline. Much appreciated. flowers

It will definitely take time for the two new receptionists to 'bed in', and they do have enormous shoes to fill taking over from Valerie and Karen. Now that Scarlett's father is more or less out of the picture, she should settle down now, understand she will move into Louise's home when she moves out following Karen's death.

Aldom, Karen had a heart attack some weeks ago. Was treated. survived and recovered well. She and Rob were very happy and were in the process of selling their large, beautiful house to downsize to a cottage and also to use money to go on a world cruise. Karen was very excited about this and they had just accept a very good offer on their house and had booked for a meal at some very expensive restaurant to celebrate. Rob was late home from work, Karen left him a lovely message on his phone whilst she awaited him. He came home, rushed upstairs for a shower and change and came down to find her (he thought) having a sleep sitting on their sofa, but could not wake here (she evidently had died a few hours earlier). He did not listen to that message until after she had been pronounced dead. He could not believe she was dead, got angry with the paramedics who told him, and got Jimmy over to take Karen to hospital. His denial was heart-breaking and even worse when I was forced to accept she was gone.

Awwww I cried for Rob too. I’m not yet into the two new receptionists and am often left open mouthed at how they speak to the patients. I know receptionists have a reputation but I think the prog takes it too far.

I haven't watched Doctors for ages, but would be interested to know how Karen was written out.

I too have watched Doctors for years. The episode where Karen died was very moving and had me in tears. Brilliant acting by Rob. ( can't remember his real name). It's a shame that she and Valerie have left. Their storyline were often very amusing. It seems that recent new additions to the cast can't fill the gap. They don't have the personality.

I've been an avid fan of this soap for years, and feel as if I know the characters personally, so very sad that 2 of my favourites have now left. Valerie and Karen were such great roles and I shall miss their quirky storylines.
I've never been a fan of any other TV soaps but I like the way the writers tackle something serious each day.
