Is this the best program on TV just now?

If the 2 women don't win I shall be so disappointed! They are inspirational.

(I couldn't find another thread on this, apologies if I've missed it.)

Yes, Cathie and Tricia ! Sorry for calling them “ the two ladies “

Blondiescot Sun 23-Apr-23 15:19:58

Cathie and Tricia are lovely. I like Mobeen and Zainab too, and Ladi and Monique - like others, I wasn't too keen on her at first, but she's really coming into her own now and developing. Not a fan of Kevin and Claudia though.
As far as the jobs are concerned, they get a booklet with what jobs may be available where, and it's up to them to choose which ones appeal.
The first series was definitely the best though - I know they're obviously limited because this one is wholly within Canada, but it clearly affects the 'race' aspect when they all end up on the same mode of transport.

I’m loving this programme too . Didn’t watch previous series and really started watching this one because we’re going to Canada next year and wanted to see what it was like. I also want the two ladies to win ! They’re so lovely. Also agree Kevin and daughter not coming over well. I wonder how the jobs they get paid for along the way are doled out as the two ladies seem to get paid the least ! Fingers crossed that they win 🥇

DanniRae Sun 23-Apr-23 14:25:25

I have loved the previous two series ... watched them both twice!
Not enjoying this series as much ... it's more interesting if they go from one country to another.
Don't like Kevin and Claudia much. Don't mind all the rest and really like Ladi.
I too want the two ladies to win! smile

nandad Sun 23-Apr-23 13:47:58

Haven’t enjoyed this series as much as the last two. We don’t know anything about where they are sleeping unless it’s with a charitable family. What is their money being spent on? And yes, agree, I think they have managed to get lifts because of the tv crew.
Don’t mind who wins but DH dislikes Kevin so doesn’t want them to win!

She777 Sun 23-Apr-23 12:40:31

I love this and the previous 2 series.
I am team ladies too but if not them then the Dad and daughter Ladi and Monique. I think her attitude has changed so much, she is learning from her dad who is always gracious and generous to others.

Froglady Sun 23-Apr-23 12:31:03

I've loved all the series of this programme.
Would love the 2 ladies to win. If not them then it comes down to the married couple or Ladi and Monique : really don't want Kevin ans Claudia to win - he comes over as very controlling and she as being all right until things don't go her way then she either goes into a strop or winges and wants to go home.

I like Ladi but don't like his daughter Monique. He called her a princess in episode one.... and she is.

Ladi freely admits, as does Monique, that he has spoilt her her whole life, however I think as we have progressed through the show that Monique and Ladi both, have now changed to a much better and healthier relationship. She has realised that she can stand on her own two feet and has bcome much less selfish, and Ladi is rightly proud of the way she is developing. I think these two are superb.

I love the kindness of strangers…..

I've loved these series

The episode that ended with basically a race on foot. What a palaver! I was shouting at them, "just walk - you'll all be on the same train later"!!

rockgran Sat 22-Apr-23 13:32:19

I love Canada and have been to some of these areas but I wouldn't want to do it as a race - they look quite miserable at times. I find it stressful just watching them trying to get a lift! I love the programme though.

One of my favourite programmes amongst a sea of dross.

I only became aware when I watched the last series travelling through Latin America, so I've started watching the first series now that I didn't see. London to Singapore, the first leg covering London to Delphi, just as interesting and making a great showcase for the various cities as the contestants travel through Europe. Looking forward to the next leg of that now I'm up-to-date with Canada, Delphi to Baku, Azerbaijan, I don't know anything about that place so it should be interesting! and from there on maybe some difficult places to negotiate, I'm not going to Google it though because I want it to unfold as with the current one without being forewarned. I like the fact that whoever wins sometimes that's down to a lot of luck with those that they meet and help them along the way, as well as individual contestants' ingenuity. We also get insights into their personality/character, sometimes coping with personal difficulties they are experiencing in their lives back home.

I have to keep reminding myself that this is a reality show and that a great deal more goes on which isn't shown, plus there's always a camera person filming.

I am fascinated by Mobeen's very perfect black beard - he must trim it every day even when he's travelling overnight on a long distance bus, plus never a glimpse of stubble regrowth on his bald head. Keven sometimes looks unshaven but Mobeen - never!

I think the camera crew aspect probably makes them all feel much safer and also helps with getting lifts.. My favourite contestant is Ladi he has a lovely approach to life..

I just love watching it - from the comfort of my sofa (knowing full well I'd never do it).

I am enjoying this too. My sister-in-law and my husband’s two aunts lived on Vancouver Island for many years and we had several holidays visiting them, we have been on the ferry from Vancouver to Vancouver Island many times. We have also done a road trip from Vancouver to Banff, we walked around Lake Louise on a lovely sunny day and there was snow and ice on the surrounding area. I also want the two ladies to win.

J52 Fri 14-Apr-23 17:57:27

I love Canada and I really enjoyed the Banff to Churchill leg. I now fancy the Calgary to Churchill train ride. Something to look into.
I couldn’t understand why Kevin and Claudia didn’t spend their spare hours trying to get a lift. If it failed they could still have taken the taxi.
I think they’ll be out of money soon and then out of the race.

DamaskRose Fri 14-Apr-23 17:26:05

Canada looks absolutely fantastic and, like others, I would dearly love to visit. I’m really hoping the girls will win, I love their attitude and the way they support each other. DH was really cross with Kevin laughing at them, me too!

I don't mind who wins as long as it's not Kevin and Claudia.

foxie48 Fri 14-Apr-23 14:40:54

I have to admit my least favourite of the remaining 4 couples is Kevin and his daughter. It was good to see Ladi's daughter stepping up and supporting her dad, he looked shattered. The "girls" are great together and it must be a real challenge to cope with failing eyesight on a trip like this. I felt a bit uncomfortable when the doctors realised they were with an evangelical family but good for them that they were said they were Muslims, I think everyone learned something about each other's faith. I am just bowled over by the scenery and the animals, wow! I want to visit Canada.

CanadianGran Thu 13-Apr-23 22:26:31

Too bad I can't seem to download it to watch... it's in my neck of the woods.

volver3 Thu 13-Apr-23 20:32:20

Agree abut Ladi. 👍🏼

Sparklefizz Thu 13-Apr-23 20:25:44

Thank you so much for mentioning this programme. The Canadian scenery is just out-of-this-world. As TerriBull says "the sheer majesty of Canada" ... and I agree, shysal about the example that the father (Ladi) is setting to his daughter... it's wonderful. What a lovely man.
