There’s a film that apparently finishes off the series very nicely, it’s just gone on to Netflix yesterday - Seven Kings Must Die. And yes, Uhtred is in it šŸ˜

Just watched it. It was OK but I was a bit disappointed apart from the exciting battle at the end.

Thankyou for that heads up. I am a ā€˜Last Kingdom’ addict I’m afraid; books and tv series.

Bit slow at first getting reintroduced to the players again but a great watch. Uhtred still got my heart a fluttering shock

We watched this. It was brilliant. A great ending.

Is it based on ā€œWar Lordā€, the last book Cornwall wrote in this series? If so it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out on tv.

Athelstan was portrayed as rather weak and easily led in the film. I don’t remember this from the book, or historical accounts, but it’s been a while since I read any fact or fiction so I might be wrong. There were several moments in the film when I thought it would have been better making a series. At one point Uhtred seemed to whizz from a conversation in Orkney to riding into Winchester in a matter of seconds. I’ve thought all episodes in the preceding series were brilliant, it is just the film that hasn’t done it for me.

Very disappointed.
None of the characters grabbed me. Some bad acting and a poor script.

Just watched it last night. I think we could have used a catch-up, since it took quite a while to sort out the characters. The final battle was very graphic. I did feel it ended the series in a way that felt right. We enjoyed it overall.

Something happened in the film that never happened in the tv series or in all the books. My attention wandered……

Just a little bit ā€˜Gladiator ā€˜ at the end.

Filmed so that it was more like watching in black & white, very dark & gloomy you could not see what was happening in some of the scenes. The final battle was quite something and I think rounded things off to a reasonable conclusion. I have not read the book so can only judge the TV version, the series I enjoyed, the film not so much. I will miss Uhtred the great warrior.
