Humax tv box…

Well, it’s still not working. Have just spoken to Humax support and may need to replace it. Stupidly, because I went away for several weeks after having it installed I didn’t fill out the warranty ( at the time I thought it wasn’t too expensive to replace but I’ve since found out that my income is going to decrease dramatically and every penny counts). I also couldn’t find the receipt etc. I used to be so good at keeping on top of everything. Going to call an engineer out: thankfully the one who fitted it fir me doesn’t charge a lot. If he says it’s broken Humax will send me a new one. Note to self…keep on top of filling out warranty forms from now on!

Thanks for the advice but I just use the Humax to record programmes from commercial channels so that i can skip the ads.
If I ever wanted to watch ITVX I'd use my laptop which works fine.
I was just trying to help the OP by saying that there are bugs in Humax machines.

Mine's fine with iPlayer but ITVX has buffered ever since it changed its name. I believe it's them not me.
As well as turning off and on again I disconnect then reconnect the WiFi as there could be a bad connection.

My Humax box can access the main players, but ITVX is not available with it. I read that only the 'Aura' version will receive it. If I want to watch ITV on demand I have to use my laptop.

PittCity have you thought of deleting the ITVX app and then downloading a new ITVX app a little while later ? That’s what I had to do with The TennisTV app that was going wrong and it worked. Voila !

My Humax goes through phases where some recordings are fine and others I have buffering. No rhyme or reason.

Another problem is that it won’t record BBC 1 HD but I believe that is because the BBC is altering output which relates to the BBC in different areas (I’m the London area). Until this is sorted I record BBC 1 on SD not HD.

My Humax box died last summer right in the middle of the Wimbledon men's singles final. Fortunately, our TV is only a couple of years old and has a satellite receiver built in. My son came round and attached the satellite cables for me as I was having difficulty screwing them into the ports at the back of the tv.
Now I don't have the need for a set top box of any kind.
If your tv is from 2018 or younger you might have a satellite receiver built in to it too. It might be worth investigating.

I’ll check that…I mustn’t get obsessed about it. When something doesn’t work I tend to focus on it to the exclusion of everything else. I get so frustrated by technical stuff! It does seem to be recording stuff.

You might want to check that you have the latest software version for your model. There were some buffering issues which were affecting BBC iPlayer which were fixed with software build 22 May 2022. I have model FVP 5000T. 22 May 2022 is the latest software issue for that. Go to Settings and System Settings and Check New Software at the bottom of the screen.

However, as you have had this problem before and it's intermittent, it's sounding more likely that it's a problem with your broadband speed and/or the way you have the box set up. When this happens, are you running other wifi devices at the same time?

Of course, what I haven’t done is dig the instruction book out! What’s annoying is that I only said the other day that, having bought a Humax box and getting someone to fit it, it was the only thing in the house that was working properly. I should have learned by now not to say that because years ago we were happily driving along in our Morris 1000 Traveller and, as I said ‘isn’t the car going well’ the big ends went….

This happened to me once, and I sorted it myself. I can't remember exactly what I did, but my go-to measures with anything technical is to switch everything off (tv, Humax and anything else you might have connected) on the box and at the mains, leave it for 30 seconds or more, then switch on again, so that everything reconnects. Then update the software if necessary (an option in 'Settings'). One of those things must have worked, I'm sure.

Failing that, Google something like 'Humax buffering in [your TV area]' to see if it's a signal problem.

Is anyone else having trouble accessing catchup tv using their Humax box? It seems to work sometimes and at other times keeps buffering. Don’t really want to have to call an engineer out. Have only recently switched from a Talk Talk box to Humax because of the same problem.
