Roll up, roll up!

The old one is full, so post your Corrie thoughts and observations here.

lemsip Thu 07-Sept-23 20:33:01

thanks.

Doodledog Thu 07-Sept-23 17:11:33

Oh, thanks, Devorgilla. I hadn't realised.

Devorgilla Thu 07-Sept-23 16:57:32

Don't forget Corrie is on tonight.

Aveline Wed 06-Sept-23 16:41:11

Ooh yes. A Dignitas type story would give lots of storylines for the various people involved. Very sad.

Doodledog Wed 06-Sept-23 13:09:56

They may do a Dignitas-type storyline? I do know that the MND Association is involved in the scriptwriting, so whatever happens will be as accurate as possible for pre-watershed viewing.

Aveline Wed 06-Sept-23 12:53:56

I'm wondering how they'll continue the Paul story. MND is a horrible disease. Surely they won't show him in the final stages. Maybe he'll disappear off to a special care home and we'll hear about him rather than see him?

sodapop Wed 06-Sept-23 12:20:11

I agree Doodledog they are both the most unlikely couples.

Doodledog Wed 06-Sept-23 11:36:53

I'd love someone to pay me to watch grin. I never miss an episode thanks to catch up, but I still reserve the right to moan about the daft storylines at times.

I agree that Gemma and Henry are an ill-matched couple, but so are Bernie and Dev, so maybe the Winter women have a 'certain something' that is not immediately obvious to the naked eye.

Aveline

No one's paying you to watch...!

Just as well.

Don’t think they would make much money.

Clawdy Wed 06-Sept-23 07:58:15

Henry falling in love with Gemma - beyond ridiculous! Even for Corrie.

This is so stupid - Gemma and the posh N & R guy. 😢

Totally agree. Gemma in her little skirt hardly covering her knickers, cleavage spilling out over her top and a daft little hair band. Who on earth would take her on as a PA? As if Henry Newton would want her and the quads.

And as for ghastly Cassie……

One wonders who gets paid to write this drivel.

Yes, it was a much better plot all round. To make matters worse for the dreadful Stephen one, Richard was doing his murderous thing very recently on Classic Corrie, so the plots ran in parallel for a while.

Galaxy Fri 01-Sept-23 22:00:26

Just going back to Richard Hillman I think it worked because he could act and there was some real dark humour woven in to the plot.

Serendipity22 Fri 01-Sept-23 21:50:03

So will the wife appear I ask myself ??? And what is it that draws women to Stephen???? Couldn't the writers have got a drop dead hunk of an actor to play the character instead of the present one ! It would certainly make some of us understand his attraction to women.

confused

Doodledog Fri 01-Sept-23 21:04:40

Betting odds. He has a gambling problem, which brought the family from Alderley Edge to Wetherfield.

Calendargirl Fri 01-Sept-23 20:59:51

What was Ed reading in the paper at the end of tonight’s episode?

Calendargirl Thu 31-Aug-23 13:08:42

SPOILER ALERT!

Have just seen the cover on my new tv guide,

‘Tyrone’s heartbreak as Cassie overdoses.. “Don’t Die Mum!

If only..

Calendargirl Thu 31-Aug-23 13:04:54

Thanks maddyone

Yes, I do watch stuff on I player, ITVX and so on, but often I scroll through and nothing grabs me.

I might give The Tower a go, but to me, the woman who plays the main detective doesn’t seem like a policewoman. I think she played the sister in Gentleman Jack, and I keep visualising her in Victorian type clothing!

maddyone Thu 31-Aug-23 11:20:31

Calendargirl the second series of The Tower is much better than the first was, in my opinion. Give it a try, you might like it. If you only have Freeview don’t forget that you have iPlayer, X (ITV on demand) and channels four and five both have on demand too. So long as you have a smart tv you can access all of those using your WiFi. You can watch the new series of The Tower on X now, even if you missed it live.

I actually don’t know why I watch it anymore. I either dislike, or am bored by most of the story lines as they are so awful and beyond belief. There should be drama to keep us hooked, but more murders in one small street than are in any way believable, some characters that are unbelievable, or totally dislikeable, loss of much of the humour, and ridiculous stories and situations, and yet, I watch grin

I’m the same. My sister has given up on Corrie after being a faithful viewer all her life.

My only excuse is there’s nothing much on.

I only have the Freeview channels, and most nights there is absolutely nothing I fancy.

I watch repeats of Morse, Endeavour, Lewis…..

Haven’t attempted the latest offerings of The Tower, Screw, and other stuff as I was underwhelmed by the first series and frankly, I end up reading my library book most nights.

Doodledog Thu 31-Aug-23 11:05:28

Two spellings of Stephen in that post - it was a mistake, but on reflection I don't know which he uses.

Doodledog Thu 31-Aug-23 11:04:42

Richard Hillman was very like Steven (property scams involving Audrey and others, a string of murders and deceitful behaviour to all and sundry) but his story was done so much better. For one thing, it was woven into the narrative, whereas Stephen pops up every fourth episode or so, does a dastardly deed then disappears again. For another, the whole thing was over in months. Gail met Richard, viewers began to realise he was a wrong 'un as she fell more deeply in love with him, he bumped off a few victims, married Gail, attacked Emily and murdered Maxine then was caught all within a relatively short timeframe. The 'romance' side of things was a slow burn, but from his first murder to getting caught only took a year or so. Stephen seems to have been hanging about drugging, scamming and murdering people since the dawn of time.

Craigie was a mere twinkle in his daddy's eye when Hillman was around, too grin. If he'd been available, 'Norman Bates with a briefcase' would have been bang to rights immediately.

I dont watch sometimes. For months at a time.
I dont know the full list of the Stephen murders.
I could look it up. But cant be bothered to do it.

I am watching Classic Coronation Street. Helps that my memory is not the best, so dont remember quite a lot of it from the first time around.
