Roll up, roll up!

The old one is full, so post your Corrie thoughts and observations here.

Paul is doing really well with what must have become a very difficult role.

I agree about the Pride nonsense. It all felt very worthy and highly unlikely. Billy and Paul going, yes - Gemma and Bernie going with them as a birthday treat, ok. But the whole cast dressing up, drag queens in the Rovers - that was all several steps too far. Ena’s hairnet would be spinning on her head.

Why was the whole episode turned over to what was presumably a Gay Pride event? When a serial has the cast dressing up, it really is scraping the bottom of the barrel; Mary suddenly appearing in a perfectly fitting immaculate suit, then rushing off - it did seem like a desperate effort to fill fifty minutes with anything at all. That said, Paul is acting his part so well - as he struggled away from David it was a heart wrenching performance.

Tonight's episode was truly dreadful.

I can't answer any of your questions, Calendargirl, although they are all perfectly valid grin.

Aveline Fri 25-Aug-23 21:31:31

People have been complaining about Corrie stories as long as it's been made!

Kandinsky Fri 25-Aug-23 21:16:59

It’s rubbish at the moment.
The writers seem obsessed with druggie storylines.
And if that isn’t depressing enough there’s online porn and terminal illness.
Just not entertaining or fun anymore.

Aveline Fri 25-Aug-23 21:07:06

Nope. I'm right there with you Calendargirl!

Calendargirl Fri 25-Aug-23 21:02:36

And how does Paul afford to buy bottles of vodka and be permanently drinking when he can’t work and was absolutely skint not very long ago?

And why doesn’t Michelle come and support her son when he needs her, instead of leaving it all to Auntie Carla?

And am I too involved with a make-believe soap opera that’s run out of ideas?

sad

Calendargirl Fri 25-Aug-23 20:53:42

And how did Gemma get Paul up the stairs on her own when both Todd and Billy struggled to do so between them the other day?

Calendargirl Fri 25-Aug-23 20:16:40

Why does Paul have to clutch a cushion next to himself whenever he is sitting down?

In fact, why does anyone have to do that?

No one I know clutches cushions.

CoolCoco

Has Debbie Webster got the factory to run up an outfit out of an old pair of curtains? Hideous or why?

Yes, I too thought she was doing a Scarlett O’ Hara in her trouser suit.

maddyone Fri 25-Aug-23 10:30:40

Thanks for that link Doodledog, I was very confused about the two mothers. Now I understand.

No, she is living in the grotty flat she rented for Cassie, who has wormed her way into Tyrone’s invisible spare bedroom whilst Fiz is working in Norwich or somewhere. Both Roy and Tyrone know where she is though, so it should all come out in the wash.

Serendipity22 Fri 25-Aug-23 08:31:23

I've been away so have missed Evelyn's departure, has she left permanently? Love Evelyn.....

fancythat Fri 25-Aug-23 08:06:40

Yes, thanks. Forgotten a lot of that.

Aveline Fri 25-Aug-23 08:03:25

Thanks Doodledog.

Doodledog Fri 25-Aug-23 06:30:17

Here is a long and involved biography of Jackie Dobbs grin

fancythat Thu 24-Aug-23 20:12:02

Oh. I must have forgotten that.

Doodledog Thu 24-Aug-23 18:59:22

Jackie was his adoptive mother I think.

fancythat Thu 24-Aug-23 18:43:14

Tyrone's mum was Jackie Dobbs once upon a time.
Odd to have a different mum and circumstances 24 years later or whatever.

LauraNorderr Thu 24-Aug-23 17:36:14

Fat finger press and rushed final sentence, meant Claire Sweeney does bitter very well.

LauraNorderr Thu 24-Aug-23 17:30:43

As Lindsay Corkhill did

LauraNorderr Thu 24-Aug-23 17:30:23

I do agree Doodledog, domestic drama, okay, but druggies, murderers and Ryan’s bits, no thanks.
Agree Cassie is a vile character, also agree Claire Sweeney looks as bitter

Beechnut Thu 24-Aug-23 17:00:32

Peter made me laugh last night with his reply to Carla when she asked him if he fancied a quickie before work.

Dottydots Thu 24-Aug-23 11:56:11

I'm not liking watching Ryan sending photos online of his "whatnot". Whatever next?
