Roll up, roll up!

The old one is full, so post your Corrie thoughts and observations here.

Just wait till Evelyn gets back. She'll soon sort out Yasmeen. It'll be too late though. The script writers are making Stu's way out very clear.
Meanwhile, back to the Rovers!

Doodledog Thu 03-Aug-23 07:23:54

Yes, I feel sorry for Stu too. He’s got little chance of getting a decent chance of a permanent role if all his storylines have to include Yasmeen, as her acting gets in the way of their being credible.

I agree that he was treated badly in the last episode. It’s not as though it’s likely that Yasmeen will settle down with Roy (where is Evelyn anyway?). It looks as though the writers just want rid of Stu, which is a shame, as they could have made more of his character.

Calendargirl Thu 03-Aug-23 07:08:58

Well, the Yasmeen/Stu relationship never seemed a match did it?

Feel a bit sorry for Stu. Yasmeen making him feel a bit thick, bragging about her and Roy’s intellectual compatibility, but effusing over his ‘banana bread’, and GD Eliza looking a rather mardy young lady most of the time, embarrassed to be seen with GD who took her in, and only showing interest in the new I pad.

Yes, I know her mother is in prison….

Who is doing the work at Speed Dahl, whilst Yasmeen swans off to the latest highbrow exhibition, Stu is taking the ungrateful Eliza to activities, Alya now working at the solicitors…..

Doodledog Wed 02-Aug-23 23:19:11

It was a knee-jerk reaction I suppose. He felt he had to say something.

Yasmeen was worse than ever today. Her acting is dreadful. I assume that Stu will get jealous of her relationship with Roy and take his granddaughter to live nearer her mother. I’d rather he stayed and Yasmeen left.

Good acting from Sarah, she really looked like a bereft mum-to-be.

Why did Adam suggest ‘a second opinion’ if no heartbeat? What good would that do?

Idiot.

NotTooOld Wed 02-Aug-23 16:13:59

Steve and Dev sort of compete for the Corrie Worst Actor Award, don't they? Although Spider has already won it imo!
That girl in the cafe with the weird hair must also be a contender now. I can never make out what she's on about.

Calendargirl Wed 02-Aug-23 16:04:46

Steve ran the Rovers before didn’t he, was it with Michelle, and had to sell up, short of money or similar?

I hope he doesn’t get it, his acting is awful nowadays, just stupid gurning expressions all the time.

Aveline Wed 02-Aug-23 11:50:48

Mind blowing suggestions Doodle!shock

Doodledog Wed 02-Aug-23 09:40:55

Steve would be a good landlord, and will have an idea of what’s what as Liz ran it for years. I think Eileen would be good too, but it would disrupt the undertaker’s business if her partner joined her, and Todd would be hopeless. Sean?

Jenny hasn’t had a storyline for ages, but if they find her ex (Leo?) it might be her turn. Or could Spider come back for Toyah and take it on with his pension lump sum?

vegansrock Wed 02-Aug-23 03:02:03

Maybe Hope and Ruby will come back when Fizz returns from her management role in Norfolk aka maternity leave. Didn’t Daisy have eyes on running t’pub when Jenny was due to go on the ill fated Canada journey? Agree Sally and Tim would be good in that role - can’t think of any other couples, apart from a Steve and Tracey who might fit the bill. Gemma and Chesney have experience in hospitality ( of sorts) though, as does the sister of George, whose name escapes me.

LauraNorderr Tue 01-Aug-23 23:31:28

Steven and Jenny running the Rovers, please Noooooo.
Hopefully Carla will steam back in to her management role once Stephen is arrested. Soon please.
Not more Hope and Ruby silliness.

Aveline Tue 01-Aug-23 19:47:20

Maybe Stephen will sweep in to help Jenny out? That would be awful.
I'm also for Sally and Tim. Great idea.

Doodledog Tue 01-Aug-23 19:18:09

Ooh, that's a good idea. Sally as Annie Walker grin. She'd be perfect.

Yes, I felt for Sarah, too. I've never really taken to Adam. His character didn't gel for me (and his hair gel was horrible, too!)

LauraNorderr Tue 01-Aug-23 18:00:12

I’d love to see Sally and Tim take over the Rovers. Like a modern day Annie and Jack Walker. Could be fun.
Felt a bit sorry for Sarah, that was a cruel thing for Adam to do. Lies never go unpunished but gosh that was harsh.

Aveline Tue 01-Aug-23 17:00:11

It's a new Ruby apparently

Doodledog Tue 01-Aug-23 14:24:02

Hope is as bad as Stephen for being a pantomime villain.

NotTooOld Tue 01-Aug-23 14:21:49

Really, Aveline? I was hoping the pair of them would be Stephen's next joint victims! grin

Aveline Tue 01-Aug-23 13:57:35

Great idea. Would be good if Damon took it over. I was reading about a new story involving Hope and Ruby...

NotTooOld Tue 01-Aug-23 13:54:29

I've read somewhere that the Rovers is about to change hands. Jenny is already griping that business at the pub is not good. I'm wondering if Damon will take it over. He can't be short of a bob or two.

And what has happened to Carla? She used to be a go-getting businesswoman but has now turned into a stay at home 'mum' to Ryan, albeit still wearing her black witches outfits.

Doodledog Tue 01-Aug-23 11:42:36

Ah, I see, thanks.

maddyone Tue 01-Aug-23 11:17:15

Yes they tell people at the scan nowadays, but not at the early stage that Sarah is at, it would need to be the twenty week scan. However they could tell from the DNA who the baby’s father is and what sex the baby is. Apparently you can now have a test such as the one Sarah and Adam had done at a very early stage these days. It’s private and done to establish parenthood for those in need of such information.

Doodledog Tue 01-Aug-23 10:13:10

He'll say he was trying to help Sarah.

The whole baby's sex-reveal thing was OTT. I don't think it's something you 'apply for' - they tell you at the scan - and whereas Adam would know that Sarah's guilt would make her more likely to let him bully her into it, she wasn't keen on the party. It was obvious that he was setting her up for something.

Hermione65 Tue 01-Aug-23 10:00:17

Seemed a bit unlikely that Adam would be given the gender just like that. Glad it’s Damon’s though. How is slippery Stephen going to get out of that?

Calendargirl Tue 01-Aug-23 09:29:58

BlueBelle

Oh didn’t see that Calandergirl was she any better ?

It was a long time ago, can’t remember it really, but when I re-watched a few WTHI episodes, I recognised a more youthful Yasmeen.

She was probably playing a doctor!

Doodledog Tue 01-Aug-23 08:55:21

Ah, so that explains his determination to reveal the baby’s sex. I thought he was being particularly insistent.
