Roll up, roll up!

The old one is full, so post your Corrie thoughts and observations here.

Maggiemaybe

I must say I'm enjoying the half hour episodes this week. There was some top class acting last night.

I agree Maggiemaybe the interaction between Paul, Gemma, Bernie and Billy brought a tear to my eye.

By ‘chain of shops’, I meant the corner shop, the kebab shop, and did he get the fish and chip shop as well?

I know he lost his chain of grocery shops a while back.

Franbern Wed 31-May-23 13:37:13

I have given up watching Corrie, but follow story lines on here. But do seem to remember that Dev does not have a chain of shops. He did....then lost them all, but the one on the Cobbles in something that happened a few years back.

Alex occasionally pops up. I think he was in it last week. The quads seem to be very self sufficient and just sit there colouring for ages with no interaction what so ever. Never whining for a drink or a snack, needing a wee or running around squabbling. Plus they go to bed and asleep really quickly with no trouble. Didn’t Gemma do some parenting blog a while ago sharing her secrets ?

Doodledog Wed 31-May-23 05:25:03

I can’t remember where Cathy went, but her nephew (the one with Downs) stayed behind, and he’s never in it now either. Alex?

I won’t miss Faye, but the actress did the right thing I think. She was getting constantly miserable storylines and there wasn’t much scope for the character.

I agree about Paul’s acting. This story is going to be tough. MND is such a terrible disease, and it must be really difficult to play Paul’s part with the respect for sufferers that I know the actor has.

Loved the wedding Gemma looked fabulous for her, the quads adorable, no one appeared to be looking out for them though they seem to do nappy changes and so on very well on their own, Pauls acting is superb, he had me crying. I only counted about 10/12 guests though, All relationships unlikely, none more so than Des and Bernie. Think Brian's cousin a fake. But why, he hasn't anything going for him. Glad Faye went, she and Craig went well though, like a couple of wet blankets. Wish Stephen would be found out as I fear for all those jobs at the factory. The sister of the man that threw the acid is as nutty as her brother. Can someone tell where is Kathy, I've forgotten.

The standard of acting tonight, when Paul told Gemma and Bernie about his condition, was done so well and was moving. The actor who plays Paul is surely one of the best of the cast. Evelyn, Roy, Paul, Daisy, Ken (of course) Carla, Peter - they are all believable in spite of some of the scripts they have to use.

As if Dev, with his ‘chain’? of shops, his golf club membership, his high profile in the Weatherfield business community, would be interested in loud mouth Bernie.

Yes, Dev is the ultimate social climber, and Bernie would never be his 'type'. It's often a problem in soaps that most of the characters are of one 'class' because of the area in which they are set, but they put in different types for balance, and then have to pair everyone up with people with whom they'd have nothing in common in 'real life'.

Billy and Paul, Daniel and Daisy, Ken and Deidre, Sarah and Adam - none of those relationships are very likely, and that's just off the top of my head.

You're not alone, Nanatoone. I like the Stephen storyline too. smile.
How lovely to see the quads at the wedding, looking so cute.

Oh, yes, I know Dev and Bernie have been an item for some time, that is what I find so far-fetched.

As if Dev, with his ‘chain’? of shops, his golf club membership, his high profile in the Weatherfield business community, would be interested in loud mouth Bernie.

Linda looked a ripe candidate to lure him away, but seeing as both of them ended up with cake all over them….

Maybe not.

Grannynannywanny Tue 30-May-23 08:29:53

The actress who plays Linda, Jacqueline Leonard, seems to have drifted in and out of all the soaps and daytime dramas for 20 odd years. She’s been in Eastenders, Doctors, Peak Practice, Hollyoaks, Holby, Waterloo Road. Oddly she currently has a prominent role in the Scottish soap River City on BBC. I was surprised to see the 2 roles running concurrently.

vegansrock Tue 30-May-23 07:34:48

Corrie is on every night this week at 7.30 for half an hour.

lemsip Tue 30-May-23 07:32:06

I can't stand the way linda talks, what accent is that?

dev and bernie have been an item for some time!

lovely to see the 'quads'.

Aveline Tue 30-May-23 07:04:58

I agree Calendargirl. The ridiculous cake fight was a stupid distraction.

Calendargirl Tue 30-May-23 06:49:03

I was hoping Linda would get off with Dev.

As if he would be interested in the ghastly Bernie, but Dev seems to have lost his touch for attracting the ‘laydees’.

Thought the scenes with Billy and Paul were quite moving.

Clawdy Mon 29-May-23 22:32:15

That silly cake fight was unfunny and predictable - for once they could have had a nice happy wedding. Would have been such a change!

MrsNemo Mon 29-May-23 22:18:22

...and thanks sodapop - I'll carry on watching in the hope of a plausible and interesting story for Toyah.

MrsNemo Mon 29-May-23 22:15:35

Surprised to hear that Cilla was injured at a karaoke. I thought the last time Fizz went to stay with her was because she was ill with a disabling condition; have I got this wrong? If I haven't I do wish the scriptwriters would remember their storylines as well as GN do. It seems a pity that excuses were made for so many of the cast, particularly writing Kirk out of the excitement.

BlueBelle Mon 29-May-23 20:05:15

Ahh she looked lovely in a Gemma way and of course the normal bun fight
Funny old Corrie world eh

Primrose53 Mon 29-May-23 19:52:16

Gemma’s dress is perfect ….. for her!! She looks like a big flashing tangerine. 😝

Doodledog Mon 29-May-23 19:49:35

That shot of Gemma's dress was amazing grin. The sparkly train is very Gemma.

Nanatoone Mon 29-May-23 19:15:29

I quite enjoy the Stephen story albeit I am a one man band it seems!

lemsip Mon 29-May-23 19:03:38

thanks for that, I didn't know.

Calendargirl Mon 29-May-23 19:02:12

Remember Corrie is on at 7.30 tonight, for just half an hour.
